Team 8 Omake Contest, Take 2
Well, my Beta Joe, also known as Bibliophile, expressed an interest in seeing the scene where Iruka cleaned out a bunch of higher-ranked shinobi based on the outcome of the Naruto-Sasuke match during the Third Exam Preliminaries.
I didn’t originally include it, since it wasn’t central to my plot, and served it’s purpose when Naruto learned of it after the fact. But don’t let me stop you all.
If anyone wants to take a stab at this, send me your results. I’ll post the entries here, and the winner will be added as an addendum in a future chapter of Team 8 - just like with the first contest. (If you have stories on one of the sites, I’ll include your handle as well. Here’s a chance to impress a lot of readers, since the chapters normally amass between 60-90k hits or reads.)
The criterion aren’t really set in stone, but try to keep everyone in character as of Chapter 14 of the story, and try to stay consistent with what the characters already know.
Please post any questions as comments and I’ll try to address them all.
What is the timeline of when people knew what the matches were? I always thought the matches were random and people only knew who was fighting a few seconds before the fight.
Also, were the fights on close circuit cameras to the hospital or what?

Great job on this chapter. I really like this story and I hope that Narutos match against Neji is in the next chapter… please don’t end it with a cliffhanger ok?
Could you make sure that Iruka is going to place a bet on Narutos win while he’s in front of Hinatas father? And please describe the look on his face when Neji has lost the match. >:)
Oh.. and please “don’t” make Hinata faint halfway through the match!
Iruka had to do some fast talking. But remember that Naruto didn’t immediately notice when his name was called, so theres some leeway there.
They were not visible in the waiting room, which is why Kurenai originally thought Naruto lost.
Is there a deadline for submissions? I’m working on something but it will take me a couple of day to finish it up.
Progress on NoFP! Ownage!
That Naruto counter on the last chapter seems to go up every single time I checked the website. Did you happen to write it while sleeping, telepathically?
Regardless, it’s great to see progress on NoFP. Congratulations on getting over whatever stumbling block you had come across.
The deadline for the Omake contest will be me finishing the next chapter of Team 8.
Chapter 15 of Team 8 damn near wrote itself.
I got the NoFP confrontation done, and I pretty much like how it turned out - even Lindsey liked it.
Is there a word/length limit?
not really, though there is a limit based on the amount of time between Naruto’s name being called and the end of the match. It’s a bit subjective, but there isn’t time for five minutes of dialogue.
And just think, the winner will get his name/handle seen by 50,000+ people. If they like what they read, that’ll definitely give any stories you are working on a boost!
Oh, okay. I thought you wanted the scene where Iruka actually got the money from the bets, not when he was making the bets during Naruto’s match. Thanks for the clarification!

oh…finally sat down and typed it up in one go…argh it was so hard to try to match your quality, and while I know I didn’t hope you enjoy it anyway!
