Yeah, murder/suicide, and Amon being okay with it. Wow. That was amazing. I never saw the movie, but it's like that scene where the two guys are on a boat, camera cuts away, gunshot, then there's one guy on the boat. Except this involved an explosion. And twice the gruesome deaths. I approve.
Amon was the murder side of the equation, not the suicide. He didn't know that Tarrlok was going to blow up the boat. Tarrlok did it because after his bending was taken away, he realized that he and Amon were nothing but tools for revenge, and he knew that Yakone wasn't able to overcome that when he started over. Rather than perpetuate the cycle another generation, Tarrlok killed himself and Amon. Of course, we didn't see the bodies, so they could very well be alive. Doubtful, though.
My interpretation of the tear on Amon's face was that he knew what his brother was doing, and accepted it. He IS a Magnificent Bastard, after all. He's shown hyper awareness throughout the season.

I missed the tear. I'll have to rewatch the episode (oh, the humanity, how will I bring myself to do such a thing.)

Rather good end to the season.

The most bothersome thing was Amon revealing himself to be able to bend in front of all these people. You're a waterbender, you can swim away to fight another day rather than expose yourself on the giant water vortex! You weren't even in that much of emotional distress during the fight with the avatar.

Oh, can't believe we forgot to mention Iroh II.

That pretty much sums up this slice of awesome.

Oh hell yeah. Iroh's the man. The final battle with Amon was pretty meh. It had its moments, but I expected it to be bigger than it was. And I thought it was a shame that the United Forces didn't get their round two. But complaints aside it was a pretty good finale. And seeing Sparkly Sparkly Bush Man again was a treat.

"You are a wise and noble hobo."

Bolin once again making me like him a lot more than his brother. The whole Mako/Korra romance thing irritated that heck out of me, mostly because of how Asami was handled. Mako couldn't have some class about the whole thing and talk to her about it, and then either break up with her or stick with her.The whole thing just felt too forced.

Otherwise, not much else that could be said that hasn't already been. Over all I liked it. I do agree that the Avatar state thing popping up to stop Amon from taking her bending would have made MUCH more sense. The Avatar IS bending. You would think that having their bending threatened like that would trip an "ohshit" button in there some where to keep it from happening.

Iroh was freaking awesome. That display pushed firebending ahead of water as my favorite of the 4 disciplines. Because, seriously, rocketing around on jets of flame trumps pretty much everything on the Awesome-o-Meter.

So the season's finally picking up. It wasn't bad so far, but it was treading water just a bit. They were putting way more focus on all the Water Tribe Civil War stuff instead of dealing with the Spirits. I honestly even forgot about them a little until Korra got Spirit Nommed Away.

And then we get Begginings and a slobberknocker of a reminder of why we love this show so damn much. Waiting two weeks for the next episode is gonna be hell.

So, apparently the season will be swapping to all digital release after tonights episode for some reason. The Comicon panel is supposed to give us some more details on the situation, and its running as we speak. So hopefully we'll know what's going on soon.

So far I'm really liking this season. Introducing some new characters, giving some more background info, ect. I continue to really really like Jinora as a character. She just seems to have had the most development of the three airkiddies, and while I do love Meelo's insanity, I hope he and Ikki get some more depth to them so they aren't just "The Insane Comic Relief" and "Sugar High Child".
