If I got all the powers that go with being a main character, I'd go for the pre-mending MTG Multiverse, as an semi-immortal planeswalker I'd try to find a way to 'walk to Earth and have fun (maybe pretend to be Superman for a while :secret_laugh: ). The villains wouldn't bother a plane without mana would they?

If I'm a normal civilian: Stargate, by the end of SG1/SGA the Milky Way is at peace they're doing okay against the Wraith and so in a few years disclosure and profiting from all kinds of fun tech in daily life. I think I'd also be okay with ascension, assuming I get the chance.

Looking at canon, I also wouldn't mind Yu-Gi-Oh, assuming I'd be able to recreate my decks from the game-boy and don't run into characters with strange powers, I could defeat most people there. Or I'd move to America and rule DDM (seeing how hard the creator of the game sucked).

Hmm, this sounded like fun so I started thinking about it. Then I realised that I simply couldn't think of any I really wanted to be in. It is simply a matter of elimination;

No place with big wars or conflicts. I am a coward and I like to stay alive without having to fight for it thankyou very much. (this rules out quite a lot of them relly, most authors seems to think peace is boring... )

No medeival worlds or anything like that, I like modern medicine and the prospect of living past 50 without dying in a flue or an infection or something... sure some places have magic to make up for it, but I don't and being some kind of second class citisen don't appeal to me.

Then we keep on ruling out places with any kind of mindcontroll magic or science. I like my mind to stay my own if it't not to much trouble?

THen we look at the society, no place with slavery ofcourse. Even if I (a natural victim of the world) managed to stay free, I do have morals and that is not something I want to live with. Too big differece between rich and poor is a big turn off as well. (what use is good medicin if I can't afford it?)

A decent political system is a must of course. no monarchy or other despotic rule, definitely no nobility or whatever you might call it. Democracy is fine, if it is well functioning. (This rules out LoTR, but you know, on the other side of the ocean... and it looked so good until now too)

When I got that far I started thinking and I for one cant find any that fit and I could keep on making demands. Oh, and if I do find one that is free of any big nononono... it has to be interesting to be worth the trouble.

Anyone got a suggestion? cause I am all out.

Edit; I did get a suggestion but I'm not sure it counts, If any of you have read Astrid Lindgren then that place the Brothers Lionheart goes wen they dies (the second time!) might be it after all. But really, all we got there is a sales pich from the older brother to make the younger commit suicide with him... I'm not sure I would trust that considering how good their first paradise turned out...

So...

Basically you want a democratic Heaven on Earth?

*glances through rest of thread*

I haven't posted here before? Huh.

Really, as long as the world isn't grimdark and as long as it has a system of magic that I could potentially learn (or start with), I'd probably be pretty happy. These mostly boil down to Dungeons and Dragons inspired worlds, which unfortunately means a medieval society, monsters in the wilderness, and a catastrophe of some sort every so often. But assuming I don't lose my mind and do something stupid like adventuring, I'd have a good chance of living a fairly long and happy life (with magic!). And when I'd die, I'd know I'd be going to the realm of some rather carefully picked Good deity (Though I probably couldn't quite treat worship like an afterlife insurance plan... Eh, a deity of knowledge or magic would understand, right?)

Indeed.

Now, for me, hmmm....

Maybe something from one of the less crapsack Final Fantasy worlds. A bit chancy, but can be interesting in it's own right. Get in one with enough industrial might (FF VI) and stay away from the more dangerous crap, and I can *ahem* help them along technologically. I don't want a place totally safe.
Also, I have to punch you, jgkitarel, because I spent a lot of time on the nanoha wiki trying to locate information on mages being trained due to being above a certain rank, only to remember and confirm that you were the one that came up with that. - Phht

This is actually a great choice. Me too. I would prefer to be a pegasus brony or a unicorn brony for, you know, flight or magic. But even if not, that world is flippin' sweet.

Alrighty, worlds I'd like to get stranded in...provided that 1) I am born into that world (there are a few exceptions), 2) I can be affected by and therefore learn to utilize or be mutated by that universe's variation from our norm (like Haki, Ki, Chakra, Magic...so on), 3) I retain my OOC knowledge of the place:

1) The One Piece Universe - Colby was able to become quite a strong combatant (too bad he's chasing after Luffy) relatively quickly...so I suppose I could do the same, hell one Devil Fruit and I'll be good to go, after figuring it out (dear Lord I really hope not...I'm a little too creative to be given such things safely). That said; the Fishermen, Shichibukai, Vice Admirals (and the Admirals obviously), and the Yonkou terrify me to no end though...

2) Fairy Tail - Two flavors here: As an observer of their adventures (if I learn a form of Magic, and depending on said Magic, I'll like to state I would prolly go for something similar to Ultear's magic)...just think of that one background character who's always everywhere the protagonists are. Another choice would be to join Fairy Tail and just go wild =3

3) Zero no Tsukaima - I hate the novel, the manga, and ESPECIALLY the anime. However, I actually like the main bunch of characters (except Saito...the boy needs a clue-by-four), so I'd like to say I really wouldn't mind being summoned as Gandaflr in the place of Saito, at least I can take my duties as the mage's protector seriously...though dealing with Louise in the beginning is gonna be a pain -.-; (there'll be a bunch of things to make all worth it though, like say teaching Louise all about Void Magic, Kirche, Siesta, and dueling Guiche >=3 )

4) The Forgotten Realms - There's a class I played in Neverwinter Nights: Rogue, Wizard, Weapons Master (worshiping Selune); I nicknamed it The Traveler Class. I want to live that class, to learn how to use it first hand...

5) Pokemon - Yup...and to make things more fun, I wouldn't mind being stuck with everyone else here who mentioned that world. Though something tells me we would all make for awesome genre-savvy villians. Oh, New Bark Town would be my hometown (I started playing Pokemon with Pokemon Silver). Hmm, now as a Trainer/Watcher or a Trainer/Researcher? One more thing, I would want to have my music collection with me...so that when I enter a main settlement like Goldenrod, I can play its background music =3

6) Scion Universe by White Wolf - Wow...just WOW! White Wolf's most broken system yet since Exalted and it's just so much fun! Yeah, I would love this as well...ONLY as a Scion though, not sure which deities would awesome to have as parents, but it's between Lugh, Artemis, Baron Samedi, Freya, or Bast; no clue as to which one yet.

...and that's it.

I personally think we'd probably make a great Anti-Team vigilante organization, though depending on whether it's the anime, game or manga version of the teams, their actual toughness and level of potential lethality would rise exponentially... And personally I'd stake out Pallet Town as my home of record. Gotta have my Charizard partner, and I doubt I'd have Ash's luck in finding a wild Charmander.

Well, remember, if you're actually in that world, the four-move mechanic wouldn't apply. So your team would have access to their entire move-set, they'd just need to learn them.

If I ended up in the Pokemon world, I don't know if I would end up going for the most awesome team ever through Meta-Knowledge of the monster's stats, though I suppose I might. Personally, I think I would go for something I wanted to do in the games, but could never do due to not having a method of getting the Pokemon from the start (no Gameshark). I'd be a Water-Type specialist, but not one of the first generation specialists who are way too narrow in their thoughts, one of the later generation specialists who actually knew how to cover their pokemon's weaknesses (for the most part, I walked right though Volkner's Platinum team with my Garchomp spamming Earthquake).

For my all water team, I'm thinking:
Swampert (Water/Ground)
Starmie (Water/Psychic)
Lapras (Water/Ice)
Lanturn (Water/Electric)
Kingdra (Water/Dragon)
Crawdaunt (Water/Dark)

In reserve/computer, I'd probably keep Pokemon like:
Pelipper (Water/Flying, in case I ever really need to get somewhere I can't Surf to quickly, but otherwise, it just looks silly)
Kingler (Water, because one giant crab just isn't enough)
Walrein (Ice/Water, I would have him instead of Lapras, but I disqualify him because his dominant type is Ice, not Water, sorry Awesome Walrus)
Carracosta (Water/Rock, because I love the ancient sea turtle. Had him for my Black runthrough. Much more impressed by him than the Bird Fossil)
Jellicant (Water/Ghost, because you need an undead, life-sucking jellyfish with a truly amazing mustache)
Wailord (Water, just so I can breed it with a Skitty)

After being made a member of the Dragon Clan and getting my Dratini, I remember getting together a team of four pokemon (plus two for HMs, but since that's not the case anymore...) and training them exclusively, I was a major TM whore as well (thank you Amulet Coin ^^). One month RL worth of training everywhere...the Victory Road/Elite Four week that followed was glorious:

Feraligatr (Water-type)
Dragonite (Dragon-type)
Gengar (Ghost-type)
Togetic (Normal-type) (And yes, Metronome was my Nuke (I always imagined myself shouting out an authorization code after ordering Togetic to use it) >=3)

Oh, and relevant, VERY relevant:

I saw this thread had updated, and, I'll have you know! I thought of this idea independently too! It does fulfill most of Juar's requirements, except the governmental part.

How nice it would be!

Well, aside from something suitably interesting and not boringly safe, there are other ideas, like going the evil route. If I wanted to mess a place up, introducing modern weaponry and tactical nukes to the Forgotten Realms would certainly make me more reviled than just about anything out there. Unless it was to destroy the rebuilt Netheril courtesy of the Shadowvar.

Never liked the introduction of that group, and most of Faerun would probably agree with me.

Fictional worlds, in general, tend to be terrible places to live due to certain factors (monsters, immortal evil demigods, being constantly threatened with destruction). But if I had to choose a world, it would be post-Return of the King Middle Earth. Second most evil being in existence completely destroyed? Civilization united in peace (for a while)? Sounds like a much better place than before.

That and the fact that the peace would last only as long as Aragorn lived, maybe through his son's reign, but probably not much longer than that. So, a period of maybe fifty years of peace, which is not very long historically.
