Pathfinder: Beginner Box?

So I was dabbling around online, looking at some old Essential products on Amazon, when I came across an interesting Amazon recommendation.
I'm somewhat familiar with Pathfinder, in that the current edition of it is pretty much D&D 3.75, with some of the fluff revamped/tweaked. The reviews for the Beginner Box look promising... my question is, is this something I should throw my money towards? I don't have a lot of tabletop gaming buddies unfortunately, so when I set up a game it's generally one-off stuff. Can this box allow me to throw up a quick adventure for some of my more casual gaming friends?
