Psst. Steam Holiday Sale has commenced. This means nifty discounts on damn near everything, plus EXTRA discount fun for different franchise/games each day! Daily sales start at 1p eastern. Ends Jan 1.

Also, the usual objective/achievement contest thing has started.

EDIT: Batman Arkham City is 50% off ($25) today (Dec 21).

Not specifically a sale, but it's heavily discounted from the release price. Psychonauts is on there for ten bucks. It's hard to believe such a good game going for so cheap. If you've never played it, shame on you. If you've never heard of it, well, you aren't the only one. That was really the main issue with the game, it was critically praised, but consumers never bought it. If you're looking for a genuinely funny game with great characters and utterly unique level design, pick this one up.

And for those of you who loved Psychonauts the first time around, take a look at this.

I had both Civ 5 and X-COM Apocalypse in my list of 'will buy if I see them discounted' (yes, I wait for a discount on a €5 game), coincidentally they are both on discount today.

Nice.
"Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move."

Binding of Isaac is on sale again. It's only two dollars. If you like the first zelda game, rogue likes, shooters (the old school kind, not FPS), and/or challenging games, I highly recommend it. I've gotten a good 57 hours of enjoyment from it so far.

According to its store page (since I don't own the game), it appears the sale lasts until Jun 2.

Also, Civ5 game+dlc is on sale at the moment. 75% off for the weekend.

Excuse me while I bury my face in my hands. I went to the store page to check and everything and just totally failed to find it. I guess I was thrown off by how the information was written in bright, eye catching blue text right after SPECIAL PROMOTION in all caps.

There are daily discounts up to 75% to almost every game, until 22nd July. Curse you Steam! Why can't you choose a time I have some money left on the card?

Kind of a steam discount. You can pick up Spec Op: The Line and both Bioshock games for 20 bucks over on amazon. After I downloaded spec ops, it used steam automatically. Hence kind of a steam discount. Anyway, since Spec Ops alone is currently seventy bucks, it's a pretty good deal. I have a little trepidation over playing a vicious critique of a genre I've never played, but meh. It's supposed to be pretty good.

THQ has joined up with the Humble Bundle guys to offer their own bundle. For a starting price of 1 dollar US, you get steam codes for Darksiders, Metro 2033, Red Faction Armageddon, and Company of Heroes and its expansions. If you pay more than the average price, which right now is $5.31, you get Saints Row: The Third as well.

For the next day you can get Darksiders, Darksiders 2, and all the expansions for Darksiders 2 for 13.19 on Amazon, and you get steam codes so it is essentially a steam discount.

(And yes, this is an amazing deal on a game series about the end of the world, with the deal expiring December 21, 2012.)

Edit: You can now get it directly from steam for $13.59 (and don't have to manually add the code for every single thing).

FYI, Steam Winter Sale kicked off a day or two ago.

Current flash sales include xcom 33% off for just under 5 hours more. Discount does not include Slingshot, but does include the elite soldier pack.
