I, uh, don't get anything. Just a little question mark in a tiny box, the "image won't load" icon for my computer. I tried refreshing and all. Anyone else have trouble seeing?

Are we going Kishi-math, or STC/Remedial for failed Academy kids?

(For those wondering STC = Shinobi Training Center, from the fic Food For Thought. I think it's on the ff.n c2. Remedial refers to a similar/same concept from Naruto: Captured).

I would hope we'd be going for the Food for Though STC way. It makes sense, and frankly, trying to justify Kishi-math gives me indigestion.

I was thinking an entirely new system, the protege-buddy system. Every Jounin has to spend three years actively teaching a kid during the Academy--Genin-Chunin stage. This allows the Jounin to live longer, as well as directly integrating survival on a varied basis through teacher change. They can double or triple up, of course, but it will be singular for preference.

I agree, it doesn't make sense to have all those half trained kiddies released back into the community and one class does not an army make. I'm all for the STC and remidial classes.

I'm not sure I'd have every jounin take on a kid. A lot of them don't have the personality for it frankly. Especially if we include the specials and go by the system you get to be a jounin if you're all around good and have some leadership abilities, special jounin if you're freaking strong or talented in one particular area but are somewhat lacking in the desired personality traits :biggrin2. Besides you get to the highest level, you don't want to babysit and you don't want dead kiddies if you piss off a death machine with a hair trigger.
Maybe make apprenticeships or mentoring more common but I wouldn't have it compulsory.

Also maybe have extra classes kind of like what Kurenai was doing in team 8. Kids who display a talent in whatever (genjutsu for example) or want to focus on it have extra lessons from a specialist as well as working with their usual sensei. This way kids in the STC and remidial programs who display a talent in one particular area can get some higher level training too. It means talent isn't wasted because their sensei doesn't share it.
For example with our (old) Team 4 Ushio would have extra lessons with genjutsu and seals, Kontan with tactics and ninjutsu and Hotaru with hyuuga techniques and some medical stuff rather than their sensei trying to teach it all.

(Food for Though and People Lie both have pretty good world builidings. PL has that whole chapter about the world and military etc)

I know the yakuza in the Tea arc in the anime didn't wear suits...but do you guys and gals think the yakuza in our Naruto setting could? It could be a fairly recent trend, last twenty years or so where suits came into style (among yakuza anyway).

To be honest though, I mainly just want an excuse for Nishiyori to wear the Westen suit at some point and not seem out of place. 8-)

We know of at least two instances where suits have appeared in Narutoverse. First is Gato. Wealthy businessman and has his fingers in all kinds of Yakuza-like activities. Second is Gantetsu. Supposedly an Iwa missing nin chunin, his brief appearance is when food is accidentally spilled on his suit and he gets punched through a wall via Rasengan by Jiraiya when he and his cronies don't back off during the search for Tsunade.

Besides, it could be a regional thing. Maybe Yakuza in some regions, such as Tea Country, dress more traditionally "Japanese", while other regions wear more "Western"-style suits.

Question Did Neji ever marry and did he ever have kids? I,m thinking of making him my characters dad or granddad but I don't know if it would work.

Yep (why not XD)
He's clan head too, or he was, he's probably stepped down by now. Hinata is off matriarching the Namikaze and Hanabi is Hokage. There was some talk about her ending up with Konohamaru but I can't remember if we ever declared it "canon"

Go ahead, the Hyuuga shall rule the world.

Psalm's character is Shikamaru's grandson.

Serbii made a very good point over in Dossiers that we havn't done much world discussion in awhile.

So, "threats on the horizon".

Besides the increase in Jashinism, maybe there is something else. Something akin to the Great Old Ones. Maybe Jashin IS something like that... :panic:

Civilian governments and mainstream religious organizations (not the aforementioned cults) need to be fleshed out more in general. But right at this second I need to get some very basic potential issues and Big Bads out of my head.

Power-hungry daimyos oppressing the people. Fight the powah!

Monks/Monastaries and how they react to Demons/demon villages. Especially with Konoha's latest negotiations.

Samurai v. Ninja: can go hand in hand with out of control daimyo or just on their own. "tuke uhr jerbs!" (South Park red-neck translation: "Took our jobs!")

Pirates! There's a ton of islands on the map and a whole ocean out there!

And that's just with the elemental nations.

I've recently provided an incomplete "interstate" I guess you could call it, that'll connect Mountain Country to Rain Country. Only thing is, it's a pretty major roadway designed for a lot of traffic... but Bird, Valley, and Mountain Countries are fairly minor and Mountain Country is mostly dealing with the Wastelands on its borders. So why are all four countries not only going ahead with this mammoth project, but expediting it?

Question: Would Neji be retired as clan head? He's only 67-68 (born 1BK, current year 66AK). Though I guess he could be a Clan Elder after retiring. Nevermind!

Well, it doesn't factor in to what Shiki's up to, so nothing important here.

Actually, I've had Naruto imply that Neji is still head of the Hyuuga clan when he talked to Nishiyori, though we haven't said who he married.

Question: Has the manga or anime shown shuriken differences by village? Like, Konoha uses various 4-point shuriken, while Iwa uses 3-point shuriken, or anything like that?

I was reading the shuriken wiki entry and saw that different point shuriken were usually representative of a certain school or region. Thought that doing something similar here would add a nice flavor to the world. Also, I think Narutoverse has either merged the bo-shuriken's functions with the kunai, or used the hari-gata style bo-shuriken as Senbon. Or a bit of both.

Okay, so you know how Naruto has two wives? Ino should totally have two husbands. I was thinking Kiba and Shino, because that would be awesome. Also if Naruto gets two wives, Ino should get two husbands. :D
