Somehow, I don't see Kiba as the sharing type. Shino could chalk it up to the whole "Queena have multiple partners" thing for bees though. Maybe give her Sai instead?

I suppose...I think Kiba wouldn't mind too terribly if it were Shino though. :3 They were teammates after all. Plus all kinds of hilarious for poor Hinata.

Another option is Ino marries Kiba and Sai. Nobody is sure how it happens. Just hilarious.

Shino could marry Kiba's sister.

Chouji should end up with Ichiraku Ayame.

But KibaShIno would be the most attractive thing EVER! Also, since everyone thinks Sai looks like Sasuke, I think it would almost cheapen it. Not that Sai isn't nice, and I do like Sasuke (ohgoddon'tflameme), but I think Ino ending up with people so unlike Sasuke would be awesome. Also prove that she's totally over him and such.

I can get behind this. Ino would strike me as being enough woman to need two men.

Sai is married to his job. ;)

I'd like to think that Shino is actually living in Kiri after he woo'd the then-current Mizukage during a visit by her to Konoha.

Slight age-horror there.

Choji and Shiho ended up together, of course. Shikamaru set them up after realizing Shiho had a crush on him and he'd started dating Temari. Shiho and Chouji are currently the most adorable and happy couple in all of Konoha. Or something.

edit: If you'd prefer, one of the guys in Ino's family could be Kankuro...

Ahahahaha~
Hey didn't we give Anko Kakashi and Iruka a while back?

I support Ino x Everyone.

Actually I can see her getting married, divorcing 3 years later then doing it again so she's had like 8 husbands and loves it.
A la Alma.
Spoiler: show
Tom Lehrer - Alma Lyrics
Album: That Was the Year That Was

Last December 13th, there appeared in the newspapers the juiciest, spiciest, raciest obituary that has ever been my pleasure to read. It was that of a lady name Alma Mahler Gropius Werfel who had, in her lifetime, managed to acquire as lovers practically all of the top creative men in central Europe, and, among these lovers, who were listed in the obituary, by the way, which was what made it so interesting, there were three whom she went so far as to marry.

One of the leading composers of the day: Gustav Mahler, composer of Das Lied von der Erde and other light classics. One of the leading architects: Walter Gropius of the Bauhaus school of design. And one of the leading writers: Franz Werfel, author of the song of Bernadette and other masterpieces. It's people like that who make you realize how little you've accomplished. It is a sobering thought, for example, that when Mozart was my age he had been dead for two years. It seemed to me, I'm reading this obituary, that the story of Alma was the stuff of which ballads should be made so here is one.

The loveliest girl in Vienna
Was Alma, the smartest as well.
Once you picked her up on your antenna,
You'd never be free of her spell.

Her lovers were many and varied,
From the day she began her -- beguine.
There were three famous ones whom she married,
And God knows how many between.

Alma, tell us!
All modern women are jealous.
Which of your magical wands
Got you Gustav and Walter and Franz?

The first one she married was Mahler,
Whose buddies all knew him as Gustav.
And each time he saw her he'd holler:
"Ach, that is the fraulein I moost have!"

Their marriage, however, was murder.
He'd scream to the heavens above,
"I'm writing Das Lied von der Erde,
And she only wants to make love!"

Alma, tell us!
All modern women are jealous.
You should have a statue in bronze
For bagging Gustav and Walter and Franz.

While married to Gus, she met Gropius,
And soon she was swinging with Walter.
Gus died, and her tear drops were copious.
She cried all the way to the altar.

But he would work late at the Bauhaus,
And only came home now and then.
She said, "What am I running? A chow house?
It's time to change parters again."

Alma, tell us!
All modern women are jealous.
Though you didn't even use Ponds,
You got Gustav and Walter and Franz.

While married to Walt she'd met Werfel,
And he too was caught in her net.
He married her, but he was carefell,
'Cause Alma was no Bernadette.

And that is the story of Alma,
Who knew how to receive and to give.
The body that reached her embalma'
Was one that had known how to live.

Alma, tell us!
How can they help being jealous?
Ducks always envy the swans
Who get Gustav and Walter,
you never did falter,
With Gustav and Walter and Franz.

Second Iruka and Anko, used a lot in fanfiction but still like it.

I second Choji and Shiho.

Second the Ino going through eight marriages idea, one of which should be Kiba.

The Shino and Mizukage idea isn't too bad age-wise...she's in her twenties in Kishi!canon, right? Plus it makes me think of Shino's parents in Team 8 in a funny way.

That leaves...

Lee
(maybe) Shino
Ayame (ramen girls need love too!)
Kakashi
Shizune

Kakashi and Shizune?

I personally think we should try andavoid just pairing the spares, not everyone ends up with someone and even if we ignore that putting people together without a reason sounds wrong. On that note the idea of Anko/Iruka makes me laugh.

Also possible they ended up with somebody we never see in canon. One of the Unnamed masses who exist in the world.

True but then you've got OC's and a bunch of us would have to agree on them, or they could just not be mentioned that would solve everything.

"Yeah, he got married and had kids."

"Who's the mom?"

"... ... ..."

"... Oh, right. Sorry, I forgot."

"Want to hear about the kids?"

--

You know, because most of the ninja in Naruto never have their mother revealed, much less whether she's alive or dead.

A question has been asked of me, and I honestly have no clue how to answer it.

What is the rough size of ninja forces in Konoha? And, for that matter, what is the actual rough population of the village?

Some of my thoughts on military size:
Spoiler: show
I'm pretty sure 20,000 is far too high for the military size, but, given how we've developed the ANBU, we can't make it too small or risk having ANBU either be really small or a substantial percentage of the military.

My current thinking is somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 ninja, with about half at genin/chunin (the career genin and chunin that take care of admin tasks and STC work), and the remaining ~50% split between ANBU (6-13%, depending on total military size), Special Jounin, and Jounin.
Given that Konoha is a military town, maybe have ninja account for 30-50% of the population? With the numbers I was considering for military size, that would put the village between 10,000 at the lower end and 33-34,000 at the upper end.

What are people's thoughts on these two topics?

I'm not sure how reliable the source is (some article on answers.com), but apparently in 2001 the SOF made up about 2% of the U.S. armed forces (Marine recon or expeditionary force not included). So I think anywhere between 3-10% ninja being ANBU sounds about right depending on the total amount of ninja in the village.

Wikipedia...yay

Fireteam: 4
Squad: 9-13
Platoon: 20-42
Company: 70-200
Battalion: 300-1,300
Regiment/Brigade: 3,000-5,000
Division: 10,000-15,000

Just as a reference point, however helpful it might be.

As for population, and how much of it is ninja. I think it depends on whether or not all ninja are full-time professional soldiers or some are more along the lines of part-time soldiers/other occupation. Full-time professionals shouldn't be more than 10% of the village population, I think. 10,000 professional ninja could mean a population of 100,000.

Do we have any clues in canon for how large Konoha's population is, or it's size geographically (to indicate how many the area could support)?

As a note: Naruto wiki lists information from the second fanbook regarding the size/strength of the five major villages.
Spoiler: show
  • Konoha:
    • Military 3/5
    • Population 5/5 (largest population)
    • Economy 2/5
  • Kumo
    • Military 4/5 (tied with Iwa for largest military)
    • Population 3/5
    • Economy 5/5 (best economy)
  • Kiri:
    • Military 3/5
    • Population 2/5
    • Economy 2/5
  • Suna
    • Military 2/5
    • Population 2/5
    • Economy 2/5
  • Iwa
    • Military 4/5 (tied with Kumo for largest military)
    • Population 4/5
    • Economy 2/5
Do we know what part of canon the second fanbook encompasses up to?

If the ratings hold true from that point to the "present," then we could use Konoha's population as the "cap" to get rough estimates for the other villages' populations. :secret_laugh:

Okay, I'm working on locations (particularly hidden villages - major ones specifically), and I need Special Military Force names for villages.

As a note: "Tokushu Butai" means "Special (military) Force), which is why I've got it will the first three villages.

Konoha - Ansatsu Senjutsu Tokushu Butai (lit. Assassination Tactics Special Military Force). ANBU~.
Kumo - Shoukin Kasegi Tokushu Butai (Master Bounty Hunters; lit. Bounty Hunting Special Military Force). I'm giving them that after the canon flashback involving the death of the Nidaime.
Kiri - Sougisha Tokushu Butai (Undertaker Squad; lit. Undertaker's Special Military Force)? Kaigun Tokushu Butai (lit. Navy Special Military Force)? I was going to give Kiri "Hunter Ninja" since that's only linked to Kiri in canon, but that would cause issues in RP so I went with "Undertaker Squad" (as several people have referred to the Kiri Hunter Nins in the manga - such as chp471 pg6).

Iwa - I got nothing.
Suna - Same here.

EDIT: Hm. Onemanga has the Kumo group as "master bounty hunters" in chp481, pg4, but Naruto wiki lists the unit as Kinkaku Butai (Golden Horn Force).

I was getting ready to add a new country entry, but some of the history I was adding could impact an incomplete storyline. So speaking with the people handling it, an interesting path made itself apparent. But an issue also came up in regards to it.

Do the Elemental countries have military forces other than ninja? I have a country's Navy being a separate entity from the ninjas (not saying ninjas don't help crew naval vessels when necessary, but they aren't standard crew) in the 1GSW entry, but I've left the Army side of things extremely vague.

It's an issue because what if a country's daimyo tells their hidden village to invade another country and the leader says no? Does the daimyo just leave with his tail between his legs and can only retaliate by cutting the village's funding from the daimyo?

As a hypothetical (and to provide a good reason to say no), what if the Fire Daimyo ordered Konoha to invade Iron Country and the Hokage refused?

The Fire Temple from canon presents the possibility of warrior-monks existing elsewhere. However, real life warrior-monks protected the areas near their temples.

But you're thinking samurai or something like that, right?

Maybe the samurai in most of the elemental countries (save Iron country) are mustered from minor noble families when needed, while the ninja villages are a standing military force for their countries.

I've been having thoughts on what might have occured over the past fifty years. Have there been ANY conflicts during that time? Now, I bet Naruto being the destined child has helped develop a system that settles disputes and prevents all-out war from breaking out, but that doesn't prevent all conflict and we can also look elsewhere...

Pirate Wars

Yeah, I said it.

Large groups of pirates attacking the eastern and southern islands and shores of the elemental nations. Upheaval and civil war between some of these groups and the elemental nations have to choose sides. Some of these pirates have strange powers... :secret_laugh:
