Fuinjutsu = Seal techniques. Juinjutsu = Cursed Seal techniques. Sougujutsu = Ninja Tool (Or weapon) techniques.

I google searched and found this: I personally don't use it.

For some reason I'm an opinionated jerk today, so I won't be offering a hand, sorry.

More background and jutsu explanation, if you please. If in doubt, make stuff up.

There! I've improved the character history and jutsu descriptions, along with some other parts of the template. Let Mii know what you think!

Hotaru's -Ushio and Kontan's ex-teammate- profile is up in my post on page 2.

The pun has become an actual habit online. I make a conscious effort not to use it in typical posts, but I think I'll make it a character trait for the RP.

Woo, I love the Samurai in Disgaea. Second cheapest class next to Ninja. You sure she doesn't use a glaive or some manner of halberd?

Create a character (It helps to flesh them out a lot. Trust me, makes other people more likely to wanna be on a team with you) using the template on the first page. I (More likely someone else) will approve it and add you to the list. From there, go into the Teams thread and mosey around.

Look forward to havin' you with us.

Also try to fit in to a group or specialise in something. If you go genin you can start a second team with flux_blade or something. Look at who's looking for groups and try to fit in with them.

It makes fleshing them out easier too. Psalmy and I built up the members of team 4 a lot more together than we could have alone.

Hmm, perhaps I will go genin. I'll have to look up who's looking for what. Though I did have an idea for a specialized ninja of a high rank. Sort of a spy/handler (of sources) who can still do the less pleasant tasks themselves if need be. Like a John Clark or Michael Westen of ninja.

But a question as far as the template goes. Are there any set amount of points and letter grades for the different ninja ranks? Or are we each supposed to just go by our own judgement in creating balanced characters?

I don't think there's a set limit, it just depends on what you want.

On a side note a Michael Westen n Naruto would be awesome. Especially his voiceovers.

Okay, someone write a Naruto story from Itachi's PoV where he was 'burned' via Uchiha Massacre. Danzo was behind it to get Itachi working for him, and eventually Itachi takes out Danzo - only to find out that Danzo's bosses (Management) was Akatsuki. Man, last night was a nice season opener for Burn Notice.

--

Yeah, there's not really a set cap on skills. Just try to match them with the general ninja level you're aiming at. My thinking is: Genin would likely be mostly C/D rank on skills, Chunin would likely be B/C/D with an A here or there, Special Jounin would likely be B/C mostly with an A (or better) in a few areas (They have jounin level skills in a specialty or two, but not jounin level all around), and Jounin would likely be A/B with possibility of an S or two. Kage level ("sannin") would probably be mostly S/A with a few Bs.

Mostly just use best judgment, and someone will note if you're too far out there.

That does sound like a good plot bunny for a story, Phht. And I agree, Burn Notice did have a pretty good season opener. Though you would think that by now Michael would have figured out that whenever one of his old spy buddies shows up, it's going to be trouble.

--

As for ranks on what you should use, I'm mostly agreeing with Phht. I think I'd stay away from designing Kage Level shinobi, as for one, that would likely end up in just being able to steamroller over most opponents. Jounin or Special Jounin would fit in with the rest of the characters we created, as well as creating another genin, if you want to take that route.

I've got an argument for having a Speed stat!

Shunshin (Body Flicker) and Kawarimi (Substitution) are ninjutsu and are not meant for repeated use. Also, in combat - whether fleeing, in pursuit, or moving around the battlefield - they don't use either technique. So speed becomes an issue - are you faster and able to catch up / lose pursuit? Can you get somewhere in time to help?

As for using chakra to enhance one's speed - well, it caps out at some point where adding more chakra either gives little/no returns or causes injuries from overstressing a muscle (kinda like the Gates). And mid to high level chakra-enhanced speed is finite duration... unless you're a jinchuuriki. Low level chakra-enhanced speed might not be finite for Special Jounin or Jounin, but it likely would be for genin and to a lesser extent Chunin.

And, if for no other reason, what if you're in an area where no one wants to be giving off chakra?

Yeah you can join if you want, though I think all of us are out on missions at the moment so you'd have to wait a while to be able do anything. Feel free to come up with a character while you wait for one of us to finish.

Yep, more people are always good.
Come up with a character, there are probably people not on quests, or people might want to make a second character so we can run more stuff.

I have a couple NPCs that could be PCs if the need ever arises, but they are family of canon characters so I'm not sure.

Anywho, *points at his post in Team Creation thread* Comments?
