Into the Unknown

Unread postby Tempest Kitsune » May 16th, 2009, 11:58 am

*This is the mission involving Itsuki, Kojira, and potentially Aoshi infiltrating a previously unknown village that very sketchy intelligence reports have identified as housing some form of kinjutsu users. Our mission is to destroy the village, but factors indicate that there's more going on here than we've been told*

*I glance back at the receding gates every so often, then look over at Kojira.* Soooo, how long do you think it'll take for him to catch up? I mean, if the Hokage decides to let him live.

*Grunt, Sigh*

Given the fact that the guy probably compounded the problem by mentioning personal details, like your panty fetish and my... me, if she doesn't kill him, we will when he opens his damn fool mouth.

I'm getting tired of this, though. I was hoping I could summon Antenna-butt and halve the travel time...

Go ahead, though I will say that my own summons are likely to be less than useless in the terrain we're heading to. Tropical animals and all that.

What part of 'We're waiting for the third sombrero' do you not understand? Besides, Gamikoto likes the dude, something about being smoother and not rubbing off her scales.

...

...

I wish we could have held this mission off until the evening. I wanna go sleep under the tree again. But no, mission comes up and you're raring to go... isn't that typical?

*sigh* Fine, we'll wait under a tree near the road.

A few feet away from the tree, Aoshi bursts up from the ground, gasping for breath and constantly glancing around nervously.

"OK, I think I lost her. Or she let me lose her." Turning to the two men under the tree, "I think I'm on a mission with you two?"

*I stand up and brush some twigs off my back* Yeah. Sorry about the punch to the head earlier, but you've gotta admit, you kinda deserved it. And trust me, she let you get away.

"And before I can even get to the bloody tree, our Research specialist appears. And with yonder comforting ditch so close, so close!!"

Another sigh. As interested as I was in the possiblity of new, untested Kinjutsu, I really, really wanted to grab a little sleep. Assassinations, three of 'em! Did that damned Hokage know how long I had to scrub to get the blood out of the leather? I still wiff a little, the moths are complaining, I have a damn report to file to my home village, two exhibitions to give the Academy and now this? Poor Kojira! Give Kojira a break, world!

"... Right. Yeah, you're with us. Itsuki has a copy of the mission scroll for you if you're interested. Focus of the day is to recon, and if Kinjutsu is confirmed, then we'll dump the mountain on them after getting info. If not, we'll call off the village under orders of Konoha Nin policy."

...

...

"Itsuki, you do have the scroll, right?"

Aoshi rubs his head and starts grumbling about how it wasn't a toy and it wasn't his fault the thing went boom and hey, how was he supposed to control his trajectory after being launched by an explosion like that? His half vocalized complaints and curses accompanied by an unconscious checking and mental inventorying of his equipment.

*I pull out the mission scroll and toss it to Aoshi* Here you go. As I'm sure you already know, we're pretty much going in blind into suspicions circumstances.

Aoshi lets the scroll bounce off his head before catching it. Gotta love the absent minded idiot act. Yeah, just an act. He's definitely not still woozy from the explosion. Nope.

Aoshi starts reading the scroll. "Seems pretty standard. And Kuroda is mission commander?"

*I give Aoshi a funny look* Standard? You sure you're not concussed? No intel, potential kinjutsu users, and we're being ordered to wipe out a village because of a late payment of some sort. Add in the inflated pay and we're about as far from standard as it gets. And yeah, Miasma's in charge.

"Ah, come on. Mysteries are mysteries until somebody carves them up. Now, pardon me while I try to extract a little blood..."

With that, I try to do an extravagant little twirl, miscalculate it, and end up pulling a 360 degree spin. Uncool. Still, if there's a way I can get blood out for the sacrifice, it'll be fun.

Augments, thousands upon thousands of artificial vessels in my system with three main reasons and many strange side effects. One being: anything other than a scarable wound would instantly cauterize itself from the leaking chakra and not bleed. Extremely painful and hard to heal by conventional means, but also handy for weakening weapons pushed through my shameless bod. Unfortunately, no blood means no summoning.

Therefore, turning off my augments was in order. And that...

Katafuin, kai.

Tefuin, kai.

Yubifuin, kai.

... Took a little time.

Snick

"Kuchiyose no jutsu, Daiga ougi."

A massive puff of smoke, and the clearing was filled with the feathery bulk of Gamikoto, the Moth-queen, attended by a dew clusters of her children. Beautiful creature, she is. Never get tired of the soft reds and whites that list along her wings like inked ferns, or the tickling of her antenna. Withdrawing a tiny scroll from my jacket, I release the seal and grab the wad of nectar-soaked cloth, tossing it towards my summon.

"Fresh from Waterfall, Gami. Enjoy."

Then again, that giant probiscis always freaked me- BY EVERY DAMN KAMI THAT THING'S FAST! Bloody bug's a heaven-sent!

*I give the summon a respectful nod, and then look over at Aoshi* Read as we fly man, let's mount up. *I move over to the Moth Queen* My Lady, may I embark?

A click, a tiny flutter of her wingtips, a swivel of her head to peer at the newcomer with her large, compund eyes. A second click, and Gamikoto settled down on her legs, her mouthpiece still sucking into the dripping cloth.

"That's a yes. Though I think she doesn't care much for the title." I shrugged. Even after five years of being with this creature, I was still no closer to understanding how its mind works, or how I got those hunches. Pheromones, perhaps?

"Aosha, dude, remember to straddle the Abdomen. I'm taking the back of the Thorax. Itsuki, behind me." I call out, slipping over the sides of the bug queen and settling lightly behind the wing joint. A faint hum emerged from her oviposter, and I can feel undertones of anticipation. Base anticipation.

"Yes, yes, there'll be flowers there, I'd imagine."

Another hum. High pitched. A query.

"Glacier valley. Not a tundra, but it's a little chilly. Most likely mountain flowers and maybe a few shrubs."

Irritation.

"Haaa, don't worry. I've got more nectar with me."

Low humming.

"Heh, you know me too well."

*I nod before starting to climb aboard* I'll remember that. Lord Hasaki is a bit particular about his own title, and who am I to argue with a creature that can reach near-Hiraishin speeds, and who has a very good grasp of how to handle a punch dagger?

I was being rhetorical smart mouth. And he and I do tend to end up bargaining quite a bit over his "fees". He actually seems to enjoy haggling more than he does the treats and such he asks for.

*I shake my head* "No, not blood. Usually he wants things like snake meat and eggs, always from poisonous species. It boils down to us haggling over how much of it and what species, depending on the area we're in at the time. Other times he wants things like being pampered by some of the Kunoichi, things like them brushing his fur for a while, or simply cooing over him and saying how cute he is; stuff like that. And depending on who he wants to do it, some days it's worse than trying to find the snake meat and eggs!"

"Look on the bright side, at least some of the Kunoichi are going to get themselves wet with bathwater. Unless you used Academy training as an excuse, heh, or.."

I blinked. Ye gods, this really did show how far we'd come.

"... Or... how about setting up a D-rank? For some of the newer Genin? It isn't that expensive, I could probably get you a discount, Hishiki-sempai said his Genin team had been arsing up lately. Reckon Hasaki wouldn't mind knocking their heads together."

I patted Gamikoto's side, releasing a bewildered moth.

"Gami's a simple girl. She likes her food and drink, and every month I present her with a basket of mud and vines, and she lets me scrape off the old scales. Profitable, and the poisons that can be extracted, well..." I fingered a pocket on my jacket, smirking, "... let's just say if you do well on the mission, I'll throw you a few to mix with your explosives. They're airborne, you see."

"Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it. And while I thank you for your consideration, I try to avoid using airborne poisons. Most of my techniques are used in outdoor areas, and one change of the breeze could result in me being taken down by my own attack."

(Anti, where are you getting this explosives specialist thing from? My guy is a ninjutsu specialist. Who happens to have both a fire and earth afinity.)

(He still uses exploding tags, though. Right?)

"Heh, I'll pass you a mouth filter. The Aburame came up with it after they analyzed a few Mist Nin's equipment and junk. Pretty thin, and the poisonous particles are pretty thick, so no problems. Besides, if that's not your game, I can liquify them. Either way..."

Another hum from Gamikoto, who looked to have sucked the wad dry. A small cluster of moths began dancing out from under her wings.

"Oh, by the way, my sister's coming over from Mori in about three weeks time. You wanna give me a hand setting the house up? She's a bit... traditional."

"No, I mean 'Scion of the Matriarch who is directly in line to take over Morigakure once our boss carks it, and is used to being waited on hand and foot.' Traditional. Seriously, our society is matriarchical, and I'll probably be the only servant she'll have while she's down here."
