(Chapter 1: A Fight at The End of The Tunnel? [/Paper Mario Chapter Title pun]

Okay, so this will be the thread for the current Adventure involving Team 4 and Shiki delving into the depths of Konoha's catacombs.

We'll start with gathering together, and go from there...)

Ichigo slowed his fast running as he approached the south gate. "I think I'm the first. I don't want to be the late again." He was about ten minutes early, unless his clock was messed up.

*looks up from a map he was looking at* My my, looks like somebody's an early riser....

*Hotaru arrives next and stands near the gates ignoring everyone. Then Ushio, who is eating a toasted sandwich from a bag she is carrying and is entirely too perky for this hour of the morning (damn moring people >_>) approaches from the opposite direction*

Ushio: "Good morning everyone! Shiki, Matsuda-kun, Hotaru. Have you introduced yourselves yet?"
*someone indicates no*
"K, Hotaru this is Masuda Ichigo, he's our new team mate. And that's Ando Shiki who's going to help us with the tunnels today. Guys this is Hyuuga Hotaru"
*Hotaru uses an ancient Hyuuga technique on them the "I stare coldly down my nose at you, analysing, and find you lacking no jutsu*
Hotaru gives a slight nod: "Good Morning"
And returns to ignoring everyone.
Ushio, used to it, shrugs and returns to her sandwich.

.... good to see the old Hyuuga charm's still goin' strong...

Shikari-sensei: "Good morning Hotaru-san! I appreciate you accepting the invitation, I feel much better about this whole thing with your presence back on the team." He stretches and looks at the sun. "Well, make the Nara proud son, and bring me something to pay the bills with, it's been a while since I've actually done a mission and I'm not really in the mood to do another soon."

Kontan: I sigh, then barely nod to Hotaru, then turn my attention to my gear.

"I guess this is it. Dad, are you going to at least follow us in?" I asked while fiddling with the containers on my belt.

Shikari-sensei: "Nope! I trust that with Shiki you will be on good hands. As for me, I think I'm going to go get some more of that chicken to round out breakfast, maybe bring some to Chosa while I'm at it."

"It is nice to meet you Hotaru-san." Walking over to Ushio, he whispers, "her sister's much nicer."

*Ushio grumbles over the lost chicken oppotunity*
*Hotaru is positively radiating smugness afer Shikari's comment, how she manages this while keeping a totally neutral expression is still anyone's guess. Another ancient Hyuuga technique I guess*

Ushio To Ichigo: *nod nod* I don't get that family. Some of them are just like her. But others are totally the opposite!

Ushio: That's everyone Shiki, lead on.

[We haven't really gone into Hotaru's family, but just as an FYI I don't intend her to be descended from Hinata/Neji/Hanabi, who may have curbed her Hyuuganess]
[Also renovations suck]

Alright, Alright.... our entry point into the remains of Old Konoha will be through the Chunin Exam Stadium that some idiot gennin sunk last exam.... from there we'll make it into the catacombs proper, and do some searching in a few suspicious areas.... any objections? No? Then let's move out!

(it's below, not bellow, just to let you know)

"Hotaru-san, may you please take point?"

Kontan: I raise my eyebrows at Ichigo and glance over to se Hotaru's reaction.

Kenta comes running up to the group "sorry if I'm late, damn alarm clock." He spots Hotaru "you must be Hyuuga Hotaru, I'm Kurokawa Kenta. Nice to meet you.

*Hotaru raises her eyebrows in a "Who are you to give me orders?" manner, Ichigo gets points for being polite and showing the 'proper' respect though*
Hotaru: "Of course, That's why I'm here after all, because none of you are capable of detecting any traps in there yourselves"
*Ushio rolls her eyes at Kontan*
*Hotaru activates her Byakugan and steps into the tunnel*
Hotaru: There are seals over the entrance *frowns* I can not see through them. The tunnels stretch as far as I can see. There are several rooms of them and a larger complex to the east. There are also several blank patches that appear to have the same seals as the entrance. I do not believe they used a Hyuuga when they designed this place, the blank patches are obvious. I can not see any traps in the immediate vicinity
*Kenta comes, Hotaru gives a slight nod* Punctuality is part of being a ninja.
*she begins down the tunnel and Ushio pats Kenta on the shoulder ("She's always like that") then follows Hotaru few metres back*

Ichigo shrugs when she give him the look and listens quietly until they start walking. "Kontan-san, do you want the rear or should I take it?"

(Later I need to crash)

Kenta nods to Ushio before following behind her into the catacombs. "So Hotaru, does it feel good to be working with you're old teamates again?"

Hotaru: It certainly is a... novel experience
Ushio: Awww come on, you know you missed us
Hotaru: True, there's no one I enjoy beating quite as much as you two
Ushio: Right back at you. Got a team yet?
Hotaru: No, not yet
Ushio: You'll never get a team if you keep being snarky Ho-ta-ru-hime
Hotaru: You're not one to give advice to a chuunin Ko-to-ne
Ushio: *sarcastically* Ooooh~ the chuunin card. Never seen that one before!
*Ushio pulls out a small torch and points it as the ground as they turn a corner and the daylight from above dims*

[MEKristian, you want to design a trap or something, I really don't know what to write right now :P]

[The team was together for 2 years, Hotaru can't be impossible all the time or they would have broken it up long ago, she's a snob the others don't like but have spent two years working with. She's harder to write! , must make sure I don't turn everything into a conversation between her and Ushio...]

"I can see you're both already getting along great" Kenta just finished talking when he rounded the corner. (we should probably hold of on dialogue until MEkristian comes up with a trap.)

(I got to sleep and things explode... geez...)

Huh... this is odd.... there certainly wasn't any seals to the entrance from the old Chunnin Exam Stadium last time.... so that would mean.... tch.... alright, seems to be hastily constructed.... sealing trap? Yeah... using the earth as a medium.... so that mean's nobody should cross that- *notices Kenta crosses between the seals* Oh shape of an orange....

Kenta barely pays attention to Shiki and so is completely surprised when the earth underneath him begins to seal him inside it.

(Is this what you were talking about MEKristian, I'm not sure)

Stupid genin and their not paying attention to their surroundings!

I can still hear you. Anyone know an Earth jutsu to get me out of here.

Ushio *cheerfully*: Just like old times!

*Ushio walks up and makes a few seals before putting her hands on the ground, the earth starts to shift and grow muddy and unstable*
"Anyone know any better earth jutsu? This one isn't really meant to go deep - "no kaiten for you ankle breaker no jutsu" someone start pulling too"

[I assuming he sunk into the earth? or did it rise up around him?]

(He sunk into the earth)

Thanks Ushio, anyone else want to help get me out of this.

Well, the two ways to do so would be to either reverse the trap in it's entirety, or disengage it somehow... well, we COULD try digging out out, but that would either be time consuming, or limb severing....

Well I happen to like my limbs so does anyone know much about seals.
