The 'Let's Play' Recommendations Thread

Unread postby serbii » March 24th, 2010, 2:16 am

The thread to recommend Let's Plays (and not a Let's Play of a game called Recommendations).

Please link and note if they're Video LPs.
Also comments are good.
-------------
Let's Play:
Pokemon Emerald - Misty is a very angry young woman with a kickboxing chicken.
Pokemon Crystal - Roxy, devotee of all things cute, runs from the horror that is Gatorface. This is where the whole 'Totodiles are the spawn of Satan' thing comes from.
Pokemon Fire Red - Sammy and Otoro, her gulpin-WTF-starter, set out to defeat Ganon Robotnik donkey kong the elite four.
Pokemon Platinum - Lady... hasn't done much yet. Just started.
All by RedChocobo (Who is a guy despite his forum voting for girls in every game, SA likes the lolis)
I'm sure someone can write a better synopsis than me.
Animal Crossing - Full title: The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing. AC is the most sinister game in existence, you just haven't realised it yet.
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories - Yeah, I was too lazy to finish it myself so I read it. :biggrin1 I remember being amused
Oregon Trail - An 'educational' game that evidently used to get played in american schools. Don't get too attached to any of the family O_o

Alright I'll through my personal faves up.
GTASA
A GTA San Andreas Play through with an actual story and you have a valid reason for being a sociopath? Amazing work by Jerusalem

Scotsman in Egypt
By the same author....Slamu? this is why the Scots are awesome

Persona 3
A Persona playthrough for all of us too damn lazy to actually go through it. Great story A mix though of screenshot and video.
Such a sad ending :TT_TT:

Princess Maker 2
This is why Gendo should not be allowed near small children. :jest: it is hilarious.

KOTOR2

Last one not a lot of laughs but a really deep and thoughtful play through. Also tells you what actually happened during all the cut content.

Linkara's Let's play.

Linkara plays Elite Force while commenting on it in his own way. As good as you'd expect from him.

I'm too lazy to find all the LPs I like, so here's just the one:
Seorin's Let's Play of Tsukihime. Aside from the Ho Yay jokes, I imagine that this is how you'd LP a Visual Novel.

Let's Play KOTOR II, by Scorchy. Originally on the Something Awful forums, lost, then re-archived.

Delightfully snarky. Includes such gems as "Punch The Sith Lord". Also contains screenshots on and commentaries about a lot of the cut content that Obsidian never had time to actually get in the game, so if you ever wondered what the plot was actually about, this'll help tell you.

It's cool. Now if only I could find a decent LP for Civilization that's complete

This game reviewer's diary of playing GalCiv II is pretty funny.

Part 1.
Part 2.

What's hilarious is that he started the game intending to use the pacifist strategy, and then he built his first Terror Star, and... things got a little out of hand. :)

Awesome...I wonder if we should do an LP of Civ4...I have the stuff....

Hmm on the other hand that implies time and effort. I dunno does anyone think this is a good idea?

more then willing to join in and play one. I love civ-4 myself. got all the expansions. though mostly I play on the lower dificulties because I like the building most of all and running over my opponents with overwhelming force.

I'm pretty bad at CIV, I like it, I play it, I can only beat up to the 3rd-4th difficulty.
If you do an LP for it I'll follow.

Sadly I'll be completely offline for awhile after the end of April. So I'm rather leary of doing this.

Well the archive is still up....better than nothing really. But now I can't follow the LP for Person 4 :TT_TT:
Mind you he hadn't updated in months.

Wait a little bit (a few days to a week?) before trying to view it again. SA seems to have a "number of times a non-member can look at this board" rule in effect or something.

Oh, and Let's Play Metal Gear Solid 3 by Chip Cheezum and General Ironicus shows us the great quest to consume everything.

Read these instead. They're brilliant.
Worth a look even if you have no idea what Persona is,

HA HA HA HA HA HA! Let's Play Final Fantasy X.

Definitely a good LP, in my opinion, and pretty damn hilarious.

Also, http://www.youtube.com/user/retsupurae this team tend to pick up a bunch of bad LPs and make fun of the people doing them, their work actually turns out to be pretty hilarious as well.

The Jagged Alliance one has the best writing of any Let's Play I've read so far. The main character is a character from an Ayn Rand novel. Hilarity ensues.

Okay, The Freelance Astronauts play Competitive Lemmings, Competitive Tetris, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, while drinking heavily.

A warning is that is pretty much all of them involves a lot of foul language. And stuff.
