Yeah, that's the main problem with this: we care about all of them. I'm completely incapable of choosing only one to save.

Okay, point the first, diabetes isn't something that you can "infect" someone with. Point the second, the doll is a proxy, and is probably booby-trapped to kill anyone that tampers with it, so killing the doll won't work.

I'm in the same boat as kodra. The win conditions for the game are not acceptable to me, so I'd rather not play, no matter how long an in game day would be.

I guess what I am/was trying to go for might have worked a little too well. I was trying to justify the hurt 'n heal mechanics, which are essentially the same without the frame story, the days, the pony insight and the antidote mechanic.

The truth is I set up a way to save all the ponies (its just not very clear, or obvious), and that was to
Spoiler: show
not play.
However, in order to fit within the Jigsaw/hurt 'n heal theme/mechanics, I tried to word the sadistic objective as the obvious, clear way to win to keep up participating by convincing people at first to try to bump off ponies while saving only one, and then once someone tried the insight mechanic, they'd get clues to the true nature of the 'poison' and stop the ones trying to bump the ponies off from performing a kill 'em all. It sounded good in theory, but practice was a different story.

:you_re_kidding_right:

But in a way I am glad that people didn't buy the sadistic choice, and refused to play. I just didn't think it was going to be before the game even started, lol. As I said, worked a bit too well.
:shy:

EDIT: Oh, by the way, the 'poison' is a high amount of glucose fluid injected into the ponies that would cause hyperglycemia, which would take about five days naturally for the ponies to break down (unless more glucose fluid was introduced via the 'hurt' option, or tried to speed up the process with the 'heal' option using insulin). If you read Jig's post carefully, you'll notice how he never stated the ponies would die at the end of day 5; he just worded it in such a way that it seemed like that was case.

Anyway, I think this post marks the end of the Hurt 'n Heal: Friendship is Magic edition. I'd like to thank all of those who did participate, even if I ended up offending some of you. And for those I did offend, I apologize, because that was never my intention. I think I just got a bit wee carried away with the grimmdark in trying to make the game dramatic. xD For those that did participate, expect a wrap up!

Make the wrap-up involve Celestia in some way. You don't poison a goddess's homies without suffering some consequences. Or an epic team-up between Doctor Whoof and a grownup Viridian Shimmer as his companion.

And apology tentatively accepted. I'm kidding *fistbump + manly shoulder half-hug*

So I was kinda on the right track? Fantastic. Good to know no ponies will be harmed in the making of this game.

Yeah, I was really impressed with how close in the ball park you were with your diagnosis. Makes me really itch to write a mystery/thriller game. Speaking of, would you guys be interested for games like this in the future? More palatable ones, I mean. xP

I would. The only reason I didn't join in with this one was because I'm not familiar with FiM and some knowledge seemed to be needed for the game.

It's a shame this didn't go on. I was going to try to gather the mods into a chat and offer "20 dollars to charity of choice in return for locking this thread."

I figured if you were going to try to play on people's worst instincts to manipulate them into killing ponies, I would play on their better natures to manipulate them into saving ponies.

That is some awesome outside the box thinking, Kodra.

I would participate in a mystery style game. I would definitely enjoy it more without the trappings of torture porn, of course. But yeah, that sounds like it would be fun.

Haha. Well, I hope me ending the game doesn't dissuade you from donating to charity anyway. xP

In any case, er, yeah...probably best to move past the torture stuff (though torture porn, or anything explicit was the last thing I was trying to go for.) I mostly set it up the way I did sort to sort of deconstruct hurt 'n heal, which was originally intended to be just hurt 'n heal mechanics with people trying to get rid of characters they disliked and heal the character they liked 'til someone's favorite was the only one left standing. Then I started thinking, 'if it were real, who would run a game like that? Why?' and then things kinda went the way of Battle Royale from there. ;>_>

Wrap up should come in a few days, when I've got some time spare outside of work! If you guys have any settings you'd like to suggest for a mystery game, I'm all ears.

I once thought of doing a higurashi (Everybody Dies/mystery) type quest. Where each character had a set path unless you interrupted it. Each time you died you'd come back as a different person and have access to different areas, different clues etc. People would react to you different and your 'old' character would go down their default path. The aim was to break the cycle and live.
But the sheer amount of planning that would have had to go into it was too much XD Not to mention the logistics. It required more detail than I was willing to do.

But anyway, I dunno how much of a 'game' it is but you could make a mystery to solve and play it out like a quest? I don't really know many mystery games ^_^;

Mystery Quest would be cool. Hm, settings where such a quest might be fun? Dresdenverse, Dogs in the Vineyard's wild west, Fallout Equestria (something is afoot in stable 71), and maybe low powered DC universe (I'm thinking the Question) are all settings I could see having enough character and structure to lend themselves to a good old whodunnit.
