Yes. I was certainly talking about Lucius' value as a unit and not the fact that he is a blond pretty boy as opposed to Artur Weasley and the fact that quote is of the female persuasion and has already made coments about "hot guys" in this thread.

Nope, nope, not at all.

OH YOU MEAN THAT. Artur isn't pretty?

Eh, I don't like pretty boys. And I find him boring.

I say go with Horsey dude over I-can-barely-walk man. Mobility is fantastic.

ALWAYS work on your first anima mage in my opinion, they win win win no matter what.

I think on my play through I went with Moulder, so I would like to support Natasha.
Odd that. It actually worked.

I will also put my vote in for Natasha, I'll also vote for Gilliam over Franz, and for Seth to have a couple of battles in the arena.

I'll vote for Natasha over Moulder, Gilliam over Franz, and Awesome Hat Guy! (I like hats) :bighat

As for supports, I think I'll vote for Colm and Neimi, Natasha and Awesome Hat Guy, and hmm... Amelia and Ross.

Thank you for ending the tie. Natasha and Gilliam for keeps! Though there’s probably still time to change your mind on the healer if you want.

Also, hello bookwurm! That seems to have been your first post on the forums, so welcome and have a good time here.

Anyway, it’s time to test--
Image
I think you’ll agree with me that it is singularly unimpressive.
Spoiler: show
Image Image
Nice Hat Guy knows how to make the most of a bad situation.

Image Image Image
...And he also doesn’t sound like someone I’d want to be on the bad side of.

Image Image
I think the game might be setting us up for something here.

--CHAPTER START--

Image Image
Hel-lo.

Image Image Image
And generous too!

A Dragonshield will raise a unit’s defence by 2. There are two main options with these stat-boosting items. 1) use them immediately or 2) hoard them until the endgame and then make some randomer even more awesome. Personally, I prefer to use them right away. Oh, you can also sell them, I guess.

Image
Everyone else gets moved around...

Image
Enemy turn! Gilliam missed on his attack, so he’s off to a good start.

Image
Sigh, bandits. Imaginative as ever.

Image Image
Keep being awesome, Ross.

Image
Gilliam attacked that Fighter, which I missed somehow, then Natasha did some healing with Mend. It heals more HP, so it glows more. Logic!

Image
Vanessa left this guy with 2 HP. One more Str and she’d be one-rounding these guys. ;-;

Image
:doh DAMMIT GILLIAM!

Image
:doh DAMMIT COLM!

Image
Eirika does just fine, thankfully.

Image
More healan.

Image
Ross kills this guy, doesn’t level.

Image
:doh DAMMIT LUTE!

Image
Thank you, Neimi.

Image Image
:doh DAMMIT EIRIKA! At least she killed him, I guess. Even if the level up was pretty crappy.

Image Image
Vanessa shows her how it’s done. :yay:

Image
THIS IS JUST GETTING RIDICULOUS NOW.

Image
Neimi duels at dawn with another archer.

Image
On our turn, Ross does a bit of damage and doesn’t level up like I thought he would. Neimi finishes off.

Image
Gilliam finally kills this guy.

Image
Natasha runs away to heal someone else.

Image
Enemy phase! Eirika damages some guy.

Image
Gilliam took 8 damage from another Fighter and criticalled to kill him. I take back everything, Gilliam’s awesome.

Image
...Can I take back my take back?

Image Image
I missed the pretty fire again :( Oh and Lute killed a dude I guess. Not the worst level up I’ve ever seen.

Image
More healing! Natasha does an awful lot of this in this chapter.

Image
TAKE UP MY SWORD, LANCE-WIELDING PEGASUS CHICK!

Image
It’s also ridiculously heavy and most sword users usually have low Con. SO YEAH. Might come in handy later though.

Image Image
Enemy phase! ...A really boring enemy phase!

ALSO THOSE REINFORCEMENTS ARRIVED TOO SOON I’M NOT READY :panic:

Image
:futile: I missed the pretty fire again!

Image Image Image
Enemy phase, stuff happens to Gilliam. Note that he actually doubles that Soldier, even if he did miss one of his attacks. Yes, that’s right. Grado Soldiers are as slow as god damn zombies.

Image
TIME TO LIVE DANGEROUSLY

Image
Nothing gets past this girl.

“Yeah, Grado’s paying the bill.
Image
This will make her feel better when she’s dead.

Image Image Image Image
Extinguish all light from our lands isn’t relevant to your interests? No?

Image Image Image
...She’s a cleric.

Image Image Image
That’s cold, Nice Hat Guy. That’s cold.

Image Image Image Image
CHARACTER GET!

Image Image Image
Nice Hat Guy, aka Joshua. He’s a swordsman with an actual Con, which makes him pretty good to start off with. Like all myrmidons, Josh has excellent speed and skill, which means he’ll double a lot and critical pretty often. His strength is normally also decent, but his luck tends to be mediocre at best and his defences otherwise are poor. He’ll still dodge a ton, though.
He comes with a Killing Edge, which gives +30 to critical. This is only semi-reliable now, but when/if he promotes to Swordmaster, he gets +15 as a class bonus, +10-5 from his good skill, +more from supports... it quickly adds up. Even if we don’t use this guy, though, we’ll be using his sword. It’s probably one of the best offensive weapons in the game, especially early on. (Critical: the gift that keeps on giving.)
Joshua is pretty laid back personality wise, but he’s not kidding about that love for gambling. With some characters this is interesting. With others, it becomes funny.

Image Image
Levelling up happens! That concludes Ross’ time as a Journeyman. Chapter 6: promotion to pirate!

Image
:doh DAMMIT EIRIKA!

Image Image
Joshua gets a critical. Myrmidon critical is pretty darn epic, I must say.

Image
With how Eirika’s been dodging I don’t trust that bandit to miss her... I’ll have to have Seth take him out after Vanessa gets some exp from him.

Image Image
Stole this off Franz, thought I might as well. And bandit gets deaded.

Image Image
Gilliam kills a guy. GET SOME DEFENCE, MAN.

Image
More bandit reinforcements. These are the last ones though.

Image Image
Vanessa and Eirika blocking the way, healing. Also giving up that Armourslayer to the convoy.

Image
Aaand I’m actually glad Eirika doesn’t kill this guy. Her dying would be upsetting after all the work I put in here. ;-;

Image
I’m not sure why I screencapped this at the beginning of the fight... meh, Soldier missed and Vanessa didn’t.

Image
Gilliam finishes off that archer.

Image Image Image
Ross visits the house. This is another stat boosting item. This one gives skill, which effects accuracy and critical. Like the Dragonshield, we can use this a little later.

Image Image Image
Neimi gets a good level, Lute doesn’t get one at all.

Image
Probably should’ve given him an iron sword, now that I think about it...

Image Image
THANK YOU EIRIKA -- you even got me some Def as well as Str, how nice.

Image
Good job he missed on our turn, because enemy phase -_-

Image Image
She only had one use of the Slim Lance left, so there’s no x2. I thought I might as well use it up.

Image Image
And... huh. I must have missed the enemy phase for this mercenary. Another mediocre level for Colm.

Image Image Image
I FINALLY CAPPED THE PRETTY FIRE oh wait what level up. Yeah, that’s decent.

Image Image Image Image
Vanessa steals things from small girls. Shame on her. This is Amelia, by the way. We’ll see her again later.

Image Image
Natasha levels up after much background healing.

Image
Since someone wanted to see Seth get some levels...

Image Image
WAIT WHAT NONONONONO Berserkers get +15 crit boost I’m not risking that.

In the Arena, the more money you wager, the stronger an opponent you get given and the more likely you are to die. Arena death is just as permanent as any other death, so yeah, we probably want to avoid betting lots of gold.

Unfortunately it took Quote about 5 turns to remember this and so we lost a fair amount of money to start off with. >.<

Image Image
750 sounds oka-- WAIT WHAT ARGH

Image Image
This one didn’t turn out well either.

Image
NICE! Assume Natasha’s healing between all of these bouts.

Image
This only wagered about 640G, I believe, but fights against magic units are generally easy for physical units to win.

Image Image
Like so! Pretty decent level up, really.

Image Image Image
Another magic user. Slowly recovering monies.

Image Image
...Sigh.

Image Image Image
I took a bit of a risk here (by my standards, I’m paranoid about the Arena), but it paid off. ^^

Image Image
WAIT WHAT AAAAH CRAP BACK BACK BACK

I was too busy panicking to cap it but these are guys you don’t generally want to fight in the arena. Druids are powerful and they use dark magic, which is more power on top of that. To put it in perspective, Seth did 13 damage to this guy’s 18.

Let’s take a break before Quote’s heart gives out.

Image Image Image Image
Image Image Image Image
Image Image Image Image

{Quit laughing at me!
I’m not laughing! You just haven’t changed much. You still exaggerate a lot.}

Image Image Image Image
Image Image Image Image

... :3 These two are cute~
B SUPPORT GET

Image Image Image
Lance vs. sword could’ve turned out badly, but it didn’t. Seth got a good level out of it.

Image
And so did Natasha!

Image Image
I decided to quit while I was ahead with regards to the arena, so Vanessa did some weakening of the boss to level her up. Pretty decent one here.

Image Image
Lute killed him but was unfortunately 6 exp off a level. :(

Image Image Image
Image What?!
Image I...Is there something wrong?
Image Oh, I’m sorry. Just... another cute blonde from Grado. I’m keeping count.
Image ...Maybe you should just share your story, Sister.

Image Image
Mentor Occupational Hazard strikes again.

Image
They executed him.”

Image Image Image
Image What... sort of method of execution was this, exactly? You were that close by?
Image ...Artistic licence.

Image Image Image
Big Bad’s plan revealed in Chapter 5... huh, not bad.

Image Image
Yeah, so we’ve heard.

Image Image Image Image
Image Um, hello? I’m standing right here.

Image Image
:panic:

Image
Image What? No, of course n--

Image
Image :doh
Image To be fair, you did virtually the same thing in front of me and Neimi.
Image Shut up.

Image Image
Image What a jerk. :(
Image Actually, dehumanisation has proven quite expedient in maximising enemy casualties whilst minimising psychological damage. It’s a common war tactic.
Image Do you even know what those words mean?
Image Duh! I’m a prodigy.
Image *sniff* It’s so sad...
Image Oh nice one, mage lady.

Image
Please, you must go quickly.”

Image Image Image Image
Image Well this merry band of ours numbers about fourteen, so you may be waiting a while.
Image Shut up! Negativity is for wusses!

Image
PRESENTS!!

[This can be used to promote a magic unit later -- Lute or Natasha, in our case.]

Image
Image ...Should we have said something during that discussion?
Image No. I’m fairly sure all this talking is a Renais thing.
Chapter done!

NEXT TIME ON FIRE EMBLEM: THE SACRED STONES
Image
Time for something completely different.
Spoiler: show
Image
Setting change!

Image Image Image Image
Mercenaries = the mooks of the mooks in FE.

Image Image Image
Well, I mean, I guess... I don’t think guerrilla tactics were really recognised until Napoleon’s occupation of Spain, so this being innovative vaguely fits, but...

Image
:TT_TT: Valter genuinely freaks me out.

Image Image Image Image
HOW MANY CREEPY UNDERTONES CAN WE FIT INTO ONE CONVERSATION

Image Image Image Image
Oh great, a traitor is exactly what we need.

Image Image Image
Really, you have to wonder how they’ve held out this long.

Image Image
~mind reader at work~

Image
I’ve heard that the capital has fallen.”

Image
This conversation suddenly took a turn for the depressing.

Image Image
THAT’S YOUR CUE!

Image
How are you gentlemen!!

Image Image
I think Orson needs fattening up. I can see cheekbones, and not in the Benedict Cumberbatch sense of the word!

Image
Gone horribly right seems an appropriate trope right now.

Image Image
...It must run in the family.

Image Image Image
I was just thinking the same thing!

Image
Soz grumpy.

Image Image
Image You want a list? Top of the list is ‘death’.

Image
Yeah, he’s not lost all of his self-preservation. Sheesh, knights!

Image Image Image
Look, this might be a good plan if you had more than four people to hold the fort.

Image
Forde: this chapter’s Seth.

Image Image
Logic, this Prince has it (?)

Image
Image ...You forgot your list already?
Image Eh, my memory’s a little fuzzy sometimes.

Image Image
I sense an opportunity for exp harvesting!

Image Image Image
Oh, that’s a point. This is the only chapter in the game where death isn’t a permadeath (with all non-Ephraim characters, not just Orson). So yeah, I might be a ~little~ reckless here.

No chapter map because we don’t get a prep screen. :( This chapter is basically pretty easy, it’s just long.
New characters! Tell me who you want me to focus on. My defaults right now are Ephraim and Kyle, because one’s a Lord and Flux wanted a Kyle/Lute support. Note that these won’t join the main party for another few chapters yet.
Spoiler: show
Image Image Image Image
This is Ephraim. It’s almost impossible for him to turn out bad, and we have to use him anyway. Reginleif is his version of the Rapier, only he doesn’t get the opportunity to find another. It’s awesome, so I will probably be using it sparingly in this chapter.
Not much to say here.

Image Image Image
Kyle’s got good Str and Def, and his speed is above average if I remember right. I haven’t used him very much, but he’s a solid unit all round. Can be a little slow if you’re unlucky, I think.
Kyle’s kinda like a male, tanky Vanessa. I think he falls into Comically Serious a lot; I haven’t used him much before, so I don’t really remember.

Image Image Image
Forde is generally faster than Kyle. His Str turns out decent, so he makes a good offensive unit. His Res is also okay, I think (as opposed to abysmal). He’s more a dodging unit than defensive.
Personality wise, he’s a laid back painter. No, really. He falls asleep in the middle of battle sometimes. He’s quite a cool character in my opinion, even if Haar made snoozing look better.

Image Image Image
Orson. He’s Seth, but worse. I’ll be stealing that sword and that’s about it.

...Not much to say for these guys in general. Gimme a break, I’m tired. :(
The main party right now: (Starred* = focus)
Eirika - Lord, level 7*
Seth - Paladin, level 20/4
Franz - Cavalier, level 4
Gilliam - Knight, level 8*
Vanessa - Pegasus Knight, level 6*
Moulder - Priest, level 5
Ross - Journeyman, level 10*
Garcia - Fighter, level 4
Neimi - Archer, level 4*
Colm - Thief, level 5*
Artur - Monk, level 2
Lute - Mage, level 4*
Natasha - Cleric, level 4*
Joshua - Myrmidon, level 5(*?)

Supports (And you can find the options HERE.)
Colm/Neimi -- +MEK and gman, bookwurm
Franz/Amelia -- suggested by Flux [Franz dropped]
Kyle/Lute -- also suggested by Flux
Amelia/Ross -- suggested by bookwurm
Natasha/Joshua -- suggested by bookwurm

Don’t forget we also have a Secret Book (+2 Skill) and a Dragonshield (+2 Def) to distribute next time we’re around... Some suggestions:

Secret Book: Ross, Gilliam
Dragonshield: Lute, Natasha, Eirika, Vanessa. Gilliam is a possibility too, if you want to take his Def from good to awesome.

I think Joshua should be focused from our main group, and I agree with focusing on Kyle for this chapter.

Josh in main group fo' sho'. Those characters have the most fun criticals.

I would say give the Book to Ross and the DShield to Lute.

Amelia/Ross support has my vote.

Yeah, keep Joshua in, I have vague memories of him being one of my front line guys will his awesome killing skills.

Right then, let’s get this show on the road. I need consensus before I can use the SBook/DShield, but as this is probably going to be the last update for a while (I move into uni on sunday), there’s no rush to decide.

Also, I have to apologise to Serbii, ‘Blondie’ aka Forde didn’t see much use in this chapter because a] I’m an idiot and didn’t realise you meant that blondie (which really I should have done, the ‘common’ sense thing and all. I can only apologise for my stupidity) and b] I’m and idiot and... well, wait and see. I’ll try to get him a level or so next time he shows up.

Time to prove that we have an--
Image
...You think of something witty that segues into such an awkward phrase.
Spoiler: show
Image Image
Well, Ephraim’s off to a good start.

Image
Kyle’s Iron Sword didn’t one-round him either, so I just stuck with this. *shrug*

Image
And Forde attacked that archer.

Image Image
Soldier attacks Kyle, Kyle kills soldier! Oh, and the archer.

Image
Turns out that the Mercenary doubles Steel Lance!Ephraim. Oops. Eh, no harm no foul.

Image Image Image
Forde weakens the merc for Kyle to finish off whilst Ephraim one hits a Knight. Reginleif!Ephraim is pretty broken.

Image Image
Kyle finishes that guy off, gets a decent level for his trouble.

Image Image
Forde decides not to dodge that huge axe. Kyle takes care of it for him instead.

Image Image
Ephraim manages to hit the Fighter he has ~60% hit against [not shown] but misses the bloody mage. Looks like I’ll have to resort to Elixir use. *too lazy to move people around too much*

Image Image Image
Holy level up, batman!

Image Image
He follows this up with a critical. Because he’s the goddamn Prince of Renais.

Image Image
Kyle picks off the mage! The Fighter dropped a chest key also, I just didn’t get it I’m afraid.

Image
Orson took the chest keys off them and picked up stuff. We also got another Elixir, always helpful.

Image Image Image
Kyle heals up to bait that axe guy, Ephraim does a bit of that himself, as does Forde. It’s times like these that I really miss healers.

Image Image Image
Kyle does his job and sets up a kill for Ephraim, who decides to critical. Again.

Image Image
After advancing some Kyle nabs the javelin off Ephraim and baits an archer for the joint-worst level up of the game. Dammit, Kyle.

Image
He takes his pain out on the archer again.

Image Image
Ephraim continues to disbelieve the concept of ‘overkill’.

Image
After the epic level up of last time, I’m honestly not too bothered by this.

Image
That was another Knight... emphasis on was.

Image
Kyle baits the Soldiers so we can have Ephraim murder more ponies. Friendship ain’t no magic here folks.

Image Image
...The third one did attack him but I missed it for some reason. He only doubled one of these guys, which does worry me a little, even if he is equipped with a super heavy weapon.

Image
One Soldier goes for Ephraim, I’ll leave it to your imagination how that worked out for him.

Image
Ghoooost~

Image
Still no speed, but I think we have a tank on a horse developing here ladies and gentlemen, let’s not complain. Better Str and Def than Gilliam on the same level, dammit RNGod!

Image
You have no chance to survive make your time

Image
...Eh.

Image
A wild shaman appeared! I love dark magic, it’s kinda cool, but these guys can be annoying. Look how much damage he does!

Image
Kyle takes a leaf out of Ephraim’s book and criticals the hell out of him. Take that, Mr. Shaman.

Image Image
Healin’ and waitin’

Image Image Image
Doesn’t take much effort to kill the monk.

[Leaving Ephraim where he is for now because there’s a Fighter I want to lure away from him first.]

Image
Forde, really, do you have to just sit there?

Image Image
Kyle finishes off for a... passable level up I guess.

AND THEN

Image Image
As I said, I can only apologise for my stupidity/apparent inability to see archers.

Image Image
On the plus side, he’s not technically dead. I would have offered to replay the chapter anyway except UNI ON SUNDAY OH GOD and I wanted to get back to the main story for my next update. Also this chapter kinda kills by soul.

Image
Kyle takes revenge. For Forde, not my soul.

Image
Arrow goes ‘tink!’ as it bounces off Orson’s armour.

Image
Kyle takes more revenge.

Image Image Image
Ephraim continues to be awesome.

Image Image
Archer does a shocking amount of damage, Kyle is really upset about that scratch in his new armour and kills him [with the javelin, because of that mage guy].

Image
Still awesome.

Image Image Image
ARGH WHY CAN I NEVER GET THE FIRE. Also, decent level up.

Image Image
Ephraim, miraculously, did not critical here. However he did manage to double an archer when holding a ridiculously heavy weapon, which doesn’t speak too highly of the guys in here.

Also, loot! :yay:

Image Image Image Image
Kyle baits a Knight for Ephraim, kills a Soldier... restores HP because he’s going to have a go at the next two guys and one of them is magic.

Image Image Image Image
Now that I’m thinking about it, I probably should’ve just killed the Soldier and used Orson to bait the shaman. LIVE AND LEARN.

Image Image Image
I wanted Kyle to weaken the boss for Ephraim because pffft, use healing items? Like NO.

Image Image
Wasn’t gonna risk that. WAIT PLEASE.

Image
Good start.

Image
...Bad finish.

Image
Let’s try this again.

Image Image
Thank you Ephraim!

Image Image
Oh snap. Ephraim gets a good level from you just to rub salt in the wound.

Image Image Image
I’m glad someone finally noticed this.

Image
...What.

“Prince Ephraim, things have
Image
Just, you know, whilst he was resting up that wound he received because Quote is an idiot.

Image Image
WHAT?!

Image
:panic: Oh god, they suddenly became competent! What’s gone wrong with the world?!

{We should probably leave now.}

Image Image Image Image
“Deny everything” is obviously not a saying in the Fire Emblem universe.

Image Who, me? I’m just a tourist. Yeah, I guess I do look like him.

Image
Well, now that we’ve got introductions out of the way...

Image Image Image
You should always introduce yourself to your foes, so they know which name to swear vengeance on. It’s only polite, after all.

Image Image Image
~mind reader at work~

Image Image
Huh... I thought Kyle was smarter than that. Mind you, with his defence, I might be a little reckless too.

Image
Yeah, well, so’s your mother.

Image Image Image Image
I don’t know, the evil laughter makes me kinda reluctant to believe him. What do you guys think?

Image Image
Show me how Renais dogs grovel.”

:cuss: So’s your mother’s face!

{Nah, I don’t feel like surrendering right now.
What.}

Image Image Image
COME AT ME BRO

Image Image
Just so you know, Valter, if your gigantic flying lizards don’t succeed here, I will lose all respect for you.

Image Image Image Image
Image I like this plan!
Image I would be more excited to be part of it if we weren’t trying to outrun flying lizards.
Image If life didn’t challenge us every now and then, you’d be just as bored as the rest of us.
Image I guess that’s true, isn’t it? Come on then, I’ll race you.

Image
Image Are you two going to stand there all day or what? I can’t end the war all by my lonesome, you know!
I would probably fangirl Ephraim if he was a little more interesting. He’s pretty badass even so.

NEXT TIME ON FIRE EMBLEM: THE SACRED STONES

Wai--wha-- where did you come from?!

Image
Well that’s not creepy at all.

Image Image
Seth, we know the bracelet looks fab and we got Colm and Neimi out of that side quest, but this is going a bit too far now.

Image Image Image Image
Image Quite right. I’d never find an accessory this good anywhere else! It’s not my fault your Emperor has no style!

Image Image Image Image
I can’t imagine Ephraim meekly awaiting anything. He’d probably take over the dungeon with a toothpick or something.

Wow, Eirika actually has a temper.

Obviously, this guy has never played a Persona game.

I hate it when the bad guys cheat like this.

Image Well, as long as you promise not to--
Image Aaaand that’s where I draw the line.

You demand too much of us.”

We’re not sure we can say the same for Grado.

ImageImage Image
Arachnophobic Quote is so very, very glad this is a GBA game.

Image Image Image
You can start planning how to kill him now.

Image Image
Image Only if you are allowed to get away with it.

ImageImage
I somehow never realised just how much of a complete monster this guy is before. This almost crosses the line into parody.

And wouldn’t that be an awful thing. With friends like these...

Image Image Image Image
ULTIMATUM HAS BEEN DELIVERED. HOW DO YOU RESPOND?

Image Image Image
Image No! I will never allow that to happen!

Wrong choice, Novala.

Tried to capture the weird teleport spell that none of our units ever use, was mildly successful.

I think he’s getting a bit too into this...

Oh god there’s a whole family there we must save the children ;-;

MOOD WHIPLASH MUCH ROSS

:3 Now we have a pirate!

JUST IN TIME FOR THE MOST AWFUL CHAPTER OF THE GAME
So, you guys remember when I said there were escort missions in our future? Well, I lied.

It’s worse.
Spoiler: show

Unit selection. I’m assuming this is who we’re taking into the chapter, let me know any changes you want to make.

Image Image Image
Formation, gap between us and the hostages. Why yes, this is a fog of war map. Don’t worry. THAT’S THE LEAST OF OUR PROBLEMS.

At some point cavalier reinforcements will start showing up somewhere to the left of our starting position. Of course there’s a bunch of forest there, so we’ll be slowed down so much that we can’t get away from them. But don’t take your time! The giant spider Boss Guy mentioned can easily one-round that entire family, and guess what? It eats the little girl first! After she spends a turn or two begging for help!

(Are you feeling guilty yet?)

Oh, and there’s several Knights hiding in the fog between us and the hostages. Also, in case you wanted to send Seth, since he’s pretty much guaranteed not to die? Don’t bother, he can’t cross those mountains! Gilliam then? Oh yeah, one of the few weapons super-effective against armour is in this chapter, and guess what? It’s an axe. Weapon triangle working against us, hell yes!

Technically you don’t have to save the family to beat the chapter. But if you don’t? Good luck promoting Neimi any time soon, because they give you the item to promote archers if you rescue them!

Image
There’s also a bunch of units to the north here, including more Cavaliers, Soldiers, an archer (or two?) and several Fighters, one of whom has the aforementioned armour-effective weapon, a Hammer.

The boss is up in this corner here.

Serenes Forest has a map of the chapter, minus fog, on this page here. Just click ‘Chapter 6’.
Can you tell that I hate this chapter yet? I hate this chapter. This is easily That One Level for me. Hit me with directions and hopefully no one will die.

This is a tricky level. I usually split the party, but I use both healers, so that's probably not a good idea here.

My suggestion is to send everybody down to rescue the villagers and then sweep the map from the top, leaving Seth, Gilliam and Vanessa to bring up the rear while carrying the villagers.

I think I'll second Ross for the secret book. For the dragonshield; does Natasha or Lute have a lower defense? I think whichever is lower should get it.

No problemo
...You think of something witty that segues into such an awkward phrase.
... something to do with this song? Hmm... you're right, it is hard.
LIVE AND LEARN.
Ahahahaha... Quote darling, please don't apply that attitude to future chapters.

:oh_noes: Such an unforgiving game.
Well, except in the dialogue, "Sure! You can join our rag tag bunch of misfits!"

I'd like to think that kid he's threatening is actually his niece and she's been promised a new doll if she plays along.

Dragon shield for Lute.

Hmm, wurm's splitting the party with both healers may be an idea. I'd probably rush towards the family with everyone and play defensively from then on, keeping the group fairly tight. It'll probably take ages and it'd either be fairly safe or screw us completely if reinforcements build up too much.

If you have someone that is decent at dodging, like maybe Joshua, have Vanessa rescue him over there, those two combined might be able to handle the spiders, as the creatures do take their time to get there.

That's my suggestion.

Yeah, I can see Lute might want the draco shield, that way to avoid some of the chancier fights. Don't forget that Colm can see really far. You don't have any torch staffs do you?

FORGOT TO MENTION THAT! Yeah, Natasha has a Torch staff, and thieves have ~super~ eyes or something. Also Vanessa picked up that Torch from last chapter.
