Defying Fate: Neji Quest, Viridian Dreams Edition

Unread postby Nitramy » February 24th, 2013, 4:56 am

Taken from my quest thread in that other BROB site. Because why the hell not.

You are alive.

From darkness, you have come forth, emerging into the smiling faces of your parents - white eyes that do not seem atypical to your first sight.

At long last, you are alive again.

"Neji," the man whose eyes are smiling despite his stern countenance says. "His name will be Neji."

And right after you take your first swig of your mother's milk, you fall asleep, dreaming of...

[ ] A beautiful sunrise and the four cardinal directions (plus a fifth). (Master Asia, aka THE UNDEFEATED OF THE EAST, WEST, SOUTH, NORTH, AND CENTER, SUPER ASIA, from Mobile Fighter G Gundam)
[ ] Wolves and Loneliness. (Coyote Starrk from Bleach - correctly guessed by Thozmp)
[ ] A silver dragon leaving trails in the sky as it flies, carrying the bonds and wishes of its master in its wings.
[ ] A headstone in a cemetery, with inscriptions vaguely understandable, but hold deep meaning to your heart.
[ ] Saving the world from the many conspiracies that plague it through your superhuman abilities. (JC Denton from Deus Ex - correctly guessed by Wittgen)
[ ] A healer bringing life - one person at a time - to a world brought to near death by weapons beyond comprehension.
[ ] Tattered blue wings and Vengeance.

PROTIP:
Spoiler: show
All choices can potentially break the setting.

DA RULES:
  • You may select from the answers provided; you can also write-in an answer of your own choice.
  • Let's minimize metagaming, and answer based on the data the character has on-hand, not how much you know about the Naruto canon.
  • Six straight unanimous votes and I lock the answer in, prompting the next story post really, really quickly.
  • We'll time skip a lot, so some activities will be decided by allocating points to various activities.
  • Success or failure depends on the roll of the die.
  • You may not choose THE UNDEFEATED OF THE EAST, WEST, SOUTH, NORTH AND CENTER, SUPER Master Asia as the reincarnation, because that's what the other quest already did.
  • Posters also gain GM Points (tm) when the GM (that's me) decides to give them away. One quick way to easily gain GM points is to guess which characters the choices represent.

Now choose. :yuush:

ACHIEVEMENTS:
None so far

GM Point Tally:
Thozmp (for correctly guessing that "Wolves and Loneliness" is Coyote Starrk of Bleach)
Wittgen (for correctly guessing that "Conspiracies, etc." is JC Denton of Deus Ex)
NOTE: It's much more fun if you guess in the topic itself rather than PM'ing me. If your guesses are veering into spoiler territory, that's when you PM the GM.

STORY INDEX:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Silver dragon flying through the air, because flying is awesome and who wouldn't want to fly?

I'm going to have to go with MrRigger here.

Amusing note: My first thought on seeing "Saving the world from the many conspiracies that plague it through your superhuman abilities." was "oh hey, isn't kinda what Naruto canon plot is like?"

We dream of a scarred man waking up on a cold table, greeted by a floating skull.

Edit: Or if that's no good, I guess I'd vote for JC Denton. You know, the conspiracy one.

I vote for Coyote Stark, because Jyuuken pistols.

Edit: Also guessing that Tattered Blue wings and Vengeance is Batman.

I'm guessing that the silver dragon is an actual D&D Silver Dragon, one who was Cohort/Special Mount to a Paladin.

Your very first dream is flight.

As you blaze a trail along a road, the sky is dark and overcast. Ahead of you is a mechanical monstrosity, while just in front of you, a weird hybrid of a vehicle and a human-like machine floats alongside you.

But as you look down, you see a red vehicle being driven by a young man wearing blue. He begins to say something you vaguely understand, but feel in your heart to be the source of your power. "Clustering... dreams... open... door... path... light... shines..."

He starts driving faster, and faster, and faster...

...until you are caught up in the torrent of speed, and the power overwhelms you.

You wake up to see your parents looking at you, white eyes tinged with concern.

With the dream put behind you, you go back to sleep.

What do you dream of?

[ ] More flying.
[ ] More of the young man in blue. He intrigues you.
[ ] Seeing your own reflection.

[ ] Your reflection.

Another one of your dreams, and you are flying over the ocean. Taking a break from flying, you look onto the surface of the nearly-still water, and your breath is taken away by how you look like.

Image

The spectacle overwhelms you, and you wake up. Oddly, you do not cry.

The rest of your infancy is uneventful, aside from occasionally dreaming about taking flight as that winged creature, and also sometimes seeing that person in blue riding that odd vehicle ride alongside you as you fly.

But you are now three years old, and have been branded with the Caged Bird Seal.

As you turn in for the first night with the brand on your forehead, what do you dream of?
[ ] The person in blue
[ ] A red-and-black dragon wreathed in flames, beckoning you forth
[ ] A dragon marked with thorns and petals
[ ] A beautiful green dragon with crystalline wings
[ ] A birdlike dragon with razor-sharp feathered wings
[ ] A rather nondescript brown dragon with two pairs of wings and a large spike on its left paw
[ ] Write-in

The person in blue.

(So we're the incarnation of the Stardust Dragon Duel Spirit... well, unless we can somehow learn to call on the abilities locked in our soul, we're kinda SOL. Being the incarnation that held the Blue Eyes White Dragon didn't help the girl that Kaiba's former incarnation was involved with any when she was murdered.)
