I'm with Ris. Yeah, they may be Heartless, but I don't know if we're going to want to attack straight out. Let's observe. Maybe we can befriend the Heartless!

In game: I'm with Rist. Like with the Alpha Star Tiger, attacking without knowing anything could cause MAJOR problems.

"Guys, hold up... There may be something else going on here. They're... not really attacking or anything. Lemme talk to Miss Porter; she can help me verify something I saw."

I like Tempest's suggestion. Let's wait until we confirm our Vision before moving forward.

"Wait." You hold up a hand. "Take a look. They're... not really attacking or anything... are they?"

Riku looks around. "Maybe not... but..."

"Let me talk to Jane, okay? I want to confirm something I saw..."

You walk up to Jane, flinching a bit when one of the white-garbed Heartless grab on to your leg, clinging on as you walk.

"Hey, uh... Jane? Have these... guys... been causing you any trouble?"

"Hm? No," Jane says, looking up from her notebook. The portly old man is practically dancing with the tall light green one. "They're... I've never seen anything like them, actually. They seem quite peaceful... a lot like children, actually."

"Uh... huh."

You look down at the white one clinging to you. It stares back for a moment, before letting go and reaching up to you.

You feel most of your trepidation fall away at the sight of this gesture. You reach out to the small Heartless, and take its... arm stub thing. It shakes your hand, and then waddles over to about the center of the camp.

It then suddenly starts to scrunch up on itself, looking very dry and brittle.

"Uh..."

It then turns back to normal, then becomes dried up again.

"What's..."

It continues in this pattern. The other Heartless have started watching. Some of them look... contemplative?

We should ask if they (the 'enemies') have been seen eating any... unusual plants recently. Personally, some of their behavior seems like something I would expect from someone on drugs.

Contemplate what our vision showed us. The one cast magic on the other in response to it acting all funny like that, and got all happy about it when the other cast on it. Now this one is doing something similar...

"Um...I think it might be a game."

Hand on our chin, stroking our majestic imaginary mustache as we contemplate and muse our thoughts aloud.

"It's scrunching up like that makes it look kinda like its withered. If the one that was shivering wanted fire, this one must want...water!"

I'm with Game on this one.

EDIT: Although, considering Mr. Porter and Jane, we might want to see if we can't use normal methods to play with the Heartless first.

You consider the creature scratching an imaginary mustache as you do. Earlier, your vision showed them doing... something like this. One Heartless mimed shivering, the other used fire to warm it up, and the first celebrated...

"... It's a game! It's miming being dried up... so what it needs is... water!"

Jane nods. "Excellent thinking! It's like charades!"

"Huh? Cha... what..." You start to ask as Jane runs in the tent and comes out with a cup of water, running up to the Heartless and offering the cup. The Heartless takes the drink, spilling it all over itself. Its deflated, dry look moistens up immediately, and it hops about in joy. As it dances, magic gathers around it, and it throws the spell at Jane, enveloping her in magic a LITTLE like the healing spells you've seen.

"Oh..." She looks at herself. "My cuts from wandering in the brush are gone. Daddy! Did you see that!?"

"Oh, I saw! Most exciting! Most exciting indeed! They're not gorillas, but I daresay that discovering an entirely new species like this is nothing to sneeze at."

"Gwarsh... I never imagined Heartless could be so... peaceful..." Goofy says.

"I'm not sure... I don't quite trust them..." Riku crosses his arms, as the one he hit earlier hops up to him. "... What do you want?"

It hops in the air a bunch of times.

Meanwhile, the white one from before suddenly starts groping around, darkness gathering around its eyes.

"Oh, oh, I think I know this one!" Jane says. "Uh... glasses? Towel...? Mmmmm..."

"I think it wants you to launch it into the air Riku."

Cast Pearl on the one that's groping around. Other than that, I agree with Tempest.

EDIT: Actually, see if there's any other way of applying Light to the one that's groping around before casting anything on it. Might not be a good idea to use Magic in front of the locals.

I think we should suggest that Riku toss the one in front of him into the air, but make sure someone is ready to catch it.

As for the one groping around, we don't have any kind of flashlight or lantern anywhere in our party, so let's look around for something... (OoG: let's try to find that projector Jane used to show Tarzan the guy on a bike...) We don't want to use magic to 'provide light' since that would hurt the guy, and they might start attacking. (I REALLY don't like the number of '?'s the White Mushrooms have for the MP...)

On the other hand Kairi's weapon might be able to light up. I mean, theoretically, couldn't she 'charge up' for Faith or Pearl, but not release it, causing the Raising Heart SILHOUETTE to glow? The only problem I can think of with that would be explaining how the staff is glowing...

Also, at some point, we should warn Goofy (and maybe Riku too) to be ready to use Cover. (We don't know what kind of situation or event will result in the creatures/heartless becoming aggressive. Better safe than sorry, but we don't want to instigate the fight. If we did that, it might also result in Jane and Mr. Porter turning against us...)

We can charge Pearl Drop without actually throwing it at things, right? Just hold one in front of us, and approach the mushroom. If it wants to touch the light, we can still slowly shove it to them. If we're feeling dexterous, we can try only to hit the darkness that's blocking its sight.

Also with plan "Toss the mushroom, but be prepared to catch it".

Riku makes a pretty... sour face. The blue-robed Heartless hops around Riku in a circle, and you can tell that Riku's mood is darkening a bit.

"Riku... you okay?" Kairi asks.

"I just... this..." Riku groans, and grabs the hopping heartless and keeping it from hopping by pushing down on it from above.

You frown. What's up with him? He's avoiding your gaze again... Doesn't he know that just makes you suspicious?

"I think this guy wants... light," you say to Jane. "Do we have any around here?"

Jane claps her hands. "I think we do. Daddy?"

"Oh, of course, of course! I might need some help, though..." The older man runs into a nearby tent with Jane.

You give Riku a look. "Alrighty. While they're in the tent, what's up, man?" You walk up to your friend, and do your BEST to catch his eyes. "You know we want your input, right?"

"I... it's just, why are you... why are we doing this?" He asks, gritting his teeth to keep from yelling. "These are the Heartless. The enemy." You catch a glance for a few seconds and can see that he's holding back a lot of rage, and hurt. The blue Heartless peers at him oddly.

"Riku..." Kairi starts.

"Have you forgotten...!? The Heartless... they took our home from us. Our families and friends! They serve that woman who's after Kairi!" Riku sweeps his hand outwards. "And here we are, just... playing with them? Like little kids...!"

You stare... and then you see them-wisps of darkness coming off his skin. Riku seems to notice something's up, too, and clenches his fist and takes a deep breath, causing most of the wisps to fade away.

"They're monsters. We shouldn't be treating them as anything else-" He stops, and looks to his right. "That... that smell... what...?"

The darker-garbed Heartless is looking in the same direction, looking suddenly alert. You follow their gaze... and see nothing.

After a moment, both relax a little. Riku wipes his nose. "What... Nevermind. More importantly... What's the deal here? Why are we treating these things like they're people!?"
