Crowning Music of Awesome

Unread postby jgkitarel » November 12th, 2010, 2:12 pm

To be honest, I am frankly surprised there there isn't a thread dedicated to this (or at least I can't find one). So, therefore I decided to start one up.

Now, I'll begin this with Aria de Mezzo Carattere from Final Fantast VI (the video doesn't capture the scene, but the music was probably the most epic in the game. It's in two parts.)

Part I:

Part II:

EDIT:

Ooops. Forgot this one. What many consider the FF series Crowning Music of Awesome, One Winged Angel: AC Version (not my favorite) LIVE!!!!
Also, I have to punch you, jgkitarel, because I spent a lot of time on the nanoha wiki trying to locate information on mages being trained due to being above a certain rank, only to remember and confirm that you were the one that came up with that. - Phht

I feel like epic music was discussed SOMEWHERE, but I don't know what thread it might have been.

Anyway, any list of Crowning Music of Awesome must include Ennio Morricone's The Ecstasy of Gold.

Im not one for opera, but I do enjoy classical. This is my all-time favorite. I burn out on most songs in a few weeks from hours of loop replaying, but I have liked this one for years!

Aria di Mezzo Carattere?
:in_love:
That was one of my favorite parts of that game.
I submit that song Magnificate used in the Familiar Quest thread for the bonding ritual, also this:

Hmm, another from FF. The Dissidia version of Clash on the Big Bridge, one of the few themes from Dissidia which actually managed to be truly better than the original, which was epic to begin with.

I'll leave a comparison. I loved it in the original SNES version and the Dissidia version (which is the third remake of it).

Original (SNES Version):

Dissidia Version:

Also:

From Lufia II: The theme for the Sinistral battles, which was only slightly improved in the DS retread.

And Ar Tonelico II (Which has quite a few, but here is METHOD REPLEKIA, with lyrics.)

I've always found Suteki da ne hauntingly beautiful.

In general, I've also found almost anything done by Yasunori Mitsuda to be awesome, Chrono Cross music especially.

Something about the Asgard theme in Tales of Symphonia has always entranced me...

For the record. It is this song:

I'll skip all the monumental choral pieces and game soundtracks and instead link you three songs that I could loop and listen to for hours:

The one that goes well with my interest in history:

The one of the genre I usually don't care for:

The one hilarious cabaret song that probably no one here understands:

To my eternal shame I never had the opportunity to play gold sun: the lost age. But I loved the first one. This third installment is definitely a must buy for me.

The second one managed to be vastly better than the first one, I think. I highly recommend tracking down a way to play it. You have internet access, so it shouldn't be too hard. You get a boat. And the power to turn into sand. It's pretty awesome.

I'll see your Emiya and raise you the Crow's Claw version. AND their version of Light and Darkness.

Now then, this is for more than just VG themes, yes? So I'll add these three and be on my way.

Yarg. Oh Witt, I go to incredible lengths to ah, 'track things down' I've taught myself to use IRC, emule, ftp, html and god knowns what else over the years. Not to mention all the plug ins and sites I know. My brother is in awe.
Trust me, if it's out there, I'll find it.

Though now that you mention it I do feel like playing it again, with a turbo button this time.
To the usual haunts!

Ok, music, what's number 1 on my ipod right now?
I don't know if I posted this before but

I wish, so much, I could find an english chorus of anything as awesome as Nico Nico puts out

Oh damn, the top four songs on my ipod are all vocaloid. Three of them choruses and one an english cover. Damn, this is what happens when your ipod gets reset. I used to have english songs...
Oh dear God I have three versions of Rolling Girl in my top 10

I'll thrown in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3mKQT08_rk
Because I love it and think the video is very clever. Proving you can make a good one with a small budget.
Remember the song is called Gravity
