I return like my cousin's half-done stir-fry. For a little while, at least.

What's the digging news?

Hmm, let's see. Ireland is fucked but everyone knows that. I severely hurt my hand saving someone from falling into a river, and I may or may not be writing a book very, very slowly. I'll also be reverting to "normal" sleeping patterns for the forseeable future for the purpose of returning to education after ewuvi convinced me to create a decent future for myself.

My Brother will be getting married soon. My Father is slowly dying but isn't going quietly and will probably live another decade or two just to prove he can. Finally I haven't caused extensive property damage in far too long.

Grow potatoes

Beat the river and the person that fell into it.

Write that book and sacrifice it to the dark gods. (Counts as firstborn)

Sleep when you die.

Create a lack of future: Burn down everything.

Set explosives in the chapel, relive the hitman days with the Chandeliers.

Blow crap up.

I'm a productive member of society. It's killed my free time but at least I have money.

People send me lizards and fish and sludge off oil rigs and berries and I check if they're radioactive. The answer is generally "no" except when it's "HOLY CRAP! PUT IT IN THE SOURCE STORE! THEY SENT THIS BY COURIER!?"

My country is not fucked, I have not saved anyone, if I'm slowly writing a book I'll never be able to publish it due to massive copyright infringement, good on ewuvi, congrats to Dark's bro, rage against the dying of the light Dark's dad.

Getting out of the Navy in a few months, my brother joined the Army a while back and will be heading over to play in the big sandbox in about half a year, applying for college and cursing the fact that I'm three months short on the time needed to get any sort of severance pay from the military.

Trying to get back into writing, have possibly hit upon a great idea for a movie, and letting my diet slide ever so slowly now that I'm no longer under the axe for possible medical discharge.

Also, the Authorlord has been published in an Anthology.
"Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move."

If by "convince" you mean this conversation:

Dark: I think I should go back to school.
ewuvi: Sounds like a good plan.

A few times.

Hmmm. My life right now is massive quantities of homework. I'm a 'productive member of society' if that means making fast-food and listening to male coworkers talk about their 'packages' for ten hours a week fits the definition, getting ready for freaking finals, writing two papers, realizing that as long as I don't suddenly become stupid (below Bs) I don't have to apply myself to school anymore, and my Dad is probably soon to be employed. Hopefully.

Let's see... about the only thing big that's going on for me right now is that I'm getting ready to head home from University for holiday break. Just got done with four different finals, two over twenty page term papers, one for a 4th level class and the other for Political Statistics (nothing more needs to be said than that). Really, been rather boring around here.

Except for that chemical spill a good few months ago.

Is that how it works? You leave for a bit, then the boards slowly start mentioning you more and more until it reaches a breaking point of psychic energy and summons you?

Apparently.

I've been spending my time looking for a job. Not succeeding mind you

Yes I too had a bit of a holy crap moment when I realized that Dervon's prophecy had been fulfilled. Almost as if it was planned....

Also, I've washed my hands of Naruto, aaaaaages ago. I only stayed on out of boredom.

Although I heard a Lou Bega song that'd go nicely with a drunk Shino.

Welcome back Anti.

News? Tangled is really quite fantastic. Pen and paper gaming is fun. Tutoring is a rewarding part time job.

Tangled is the latest Disney princess movie, this time with Rapunzel. It's okay, you get what you pay for, and the two best characters are the chamelion and the horse.

In Disney fairy tale movies, the standout characters are rarely the hero or heroine. It's the same for Tangled, but I would argue that as far as Disney leads go, Rapunzel and Flynn are quite strong. They have good lines delivered well by their respective voice actors. They're both pretty fleshed out as characters, and I found the development of their relationship to be believable. Very much Disney fairy tale style, but believable. For comparison, the hero/heroine relationship in Princess and the Frog gave me severe disbelief with a case of whiplash, and the one in Little Mermaid made me cringe.

The frog and the horse, like all the silent characters in the movie, really benefit from it. The script was quite good, but the animation was so beautiful and so well done that when a character only existed through the animation, it was fantastic.

Thank you for defending my masculinity, ewuvi. I appreciate it. Sorry if I betray that by gushing about a Disney flick, but damn do I love that movie.
