Righto, this here's a place where you can evaluate and receive evaluations on the pictures you choose for your personalization. I decided to put this up because some people couldn't handle a tiny looped animation of some cartoon bozo bonking himself on the head.

Wussies.

Take this one, does it inspire fear? Noooooooo.

I wanted to use Unpossible, but it's too big to upload. Now I just need to edit the other choice to Avatar size...

For now though, Shinji shall bemoan Mondays.

I decided I needed an avatar and drew one, and it's pretty funny to be called 'boxy'. Lately though, it has been pointed out that it isn't a box, but an obtuse angle.

So I am ewuvi - Blachawk Down looks like a happy movie!- the obtuse.

And then I put make-up on it for giggles.

And to celebrate the dark knight, no?

Animated avatars or signatures are always annoying. Always.

I use Gunnerkrigg Court characters for my avatars. Man, that's a great comic.

Why do you say that? (I'll agree that most are, but Soulfusion's were a hoot, to give one positive example)

My avatar comes from a love of a certain show and more importantly a certain character on a certain show (as if that wasn't obvious enough   ). All I know is, I would never want to be on Jack's bad side. If Jack Bauer were a street nobody would cross him, cause they'd all end up dead (Disclaimer: I do not claim ownership on the originality of that joke, I just can't remember where I first heard/read it). Anyways of all of the Jack avatars I saw, this one looked the scariest. Nobody would want to be the one who that gun is pointed at. Nobody... :panic:

ATTN:
To everyone putting large images into their signatures:
Don't.

To everyone putting large images into their signatures behind spoiler tags:
Provide warnings that there is a large image.

In short, be nice to the people on low-bandwidth connections.

Thank you for your consideration and have a nice night.

Both, but more how much of the screen it fills.

Perhaps there are subtle animated avatars that are actually kind of cool. In general, though, things randomly moving on the screen just give me a headache. I still have to focus to block out the mass of animated smilies on the left hand side of the post composing page.

I'm not entirely sure what you two have against smilies. They can be very useful for preventing misunderstandings.

*Shrugs* Must be a personal preference thing.

I like the smilies just fine. It's the mass of them all moving in my peripheral vision that I don't like. There's really no way around it though. I'm not complaining. I was just using that to illustrate that I don't generally like moving images. The more they move, thew worse.

Ah, so it's the constant motion of the smilies. I can see how it can be distracting. I know there are updates for phpBB3 that allow the admins to put smilies into categories. Maybe post that suggestion in the smiley topic in the suggestion box? That way anyone who wants to use a moving smiley can open the category and do so.

My own avatar is merely the glaring eyes of a shadow-shrouded Richard of LFG webcomic fame. Looks pissed, don't he?
