Profiles and who is online.

Unread postby MEKristian » January 26th, 2011, 12:07 pm

Okay, so this may just be me (and if it is, WHY is it), but as of present the "Who is Online" link that seems to usually be at the bottom of the page isn't there, nor am I able to click on people's names to reach their profiles.

Both of these problems are only when signed in, however, so I've no idea if anybody else is having the same problem.

Yeah, I'm having that problem, too. The member list at the top of the page is also missing. And we have a new banner. A bit odd that it doesn't say Viridian Dreams, but the smaller size is nice.

You can still view profiles through the button at the bottom of a person's post, though.

We are working on the forum template (look and feel) so that we could get captcha working again. It was broken for a long time. So if you see glitches here and there, let me know and we'll get it back up and running again.

Just an FYI: We are currently fighting spam bots that are registering 500+ accounts per day on this forum and then never posting, leading to tons and tons of inactive users that we have to delete manually. They continue spamming the forum even though the posts don't get through, because they can still boost search engine ranking by adding a URL to their member profile, which is clickable from the forum home page.

So we're trying to tweak the forum so that it will still work properly for the folks that actually use it, without also being bombed byspam bots!

Regarding the smaller logo, I'll be happy to resize it to match the current "Our Community" banner size.

Getting the 'view active topics' link back would be nice. That's what I'm missing the most.

Thanks for all your work Vid and Forbin and the other code monkeys.

That would be a no for me. I'm still not allowed to do a search apparently

Both Search and View Active Topics appear to be online and working fine.

As a note, clicking on Viridian Dreams in the Board Index >> Viridian Dreams >> etc spot or at the top of the list of forums on the board index gives a list of active topics instead of the usual list of all forums/subforums on the site like it used to.

:cheer

Also, that's interesting, Phht. I don't think I've ever clicked there -- I always click on the banner to go to the index. Actually, looking around, there's a lot of interesting little links I've never looked at.

For the Youtube thread, some of the beginning posts have been eaten I think.

In fact, I think many of my old posts no longer exist. Possibly all of them. I wasn't sad about my post count, but I am kind of sad about this.

Some of the older threads were chopped, since they hadn't been active in nearly a year or more.

That is not what is happening here. All my posts from before the crash are gone, and that includes threads that are quite recently active.

Oh man that sucks, and explains how some of the topics got shorter, we saved a couple of the quests when the forum came back up, then they mysteriously got shorter in page count.
Can we try to get Witt's posts back?

The posts in the Naruto RP still don't show up on the active topics.

Is it possible that some of Wittgen's posts are assigned to an "unknown###" username?

While it is not a problem for me at this moment, I notice that PMs are missing as well.

Are they? I see the PM button beneath your post, and I can get to my inbox through the User Control Panel. Is it just a cute little shortcut somewhere that I didn't know about?

He's talking about previous PMs; that is ones you had in you inbox before the crash.

Of course, even if you did get them back, you'd only have room for 100 of them right now.

Witt, your posts should be back. A bunch of posts look like they got eaten by database fairies but I managed to get them to cough the lot up. Please see if anything is still out of place, and let us know.
