Viridian Health Update 2024

Health issues have been improving slowly. I got smacked by my muse for the first time in years and decided to scribble out a crossover story idea that occurred to me a while back.

Worm is owned by Wildbow so this is obviously not going to be charged for or behind any kind of paywall. I may end up posting it on SpaceBattles if it keeps flowing. I appreciate everyone’s persistence as I’m hopefully getting back into the groove again!

To be more specific, I’m still recovering things lost or impaired at the end of 2015. So for anyone dealing with cognitive deficits, keep at it!

For those who don’t know, I became bedbound after gout painfully knocked me off my feet, and then a few months later, pneumonia turned into respiratory failure, which resulted in a visit to the hospital in Dec 2015. I spent 8 months going between hospitals to physical rehab facilities, then back to hospitals again, until I was finally sent home in Aug 2016. I have been home ever since then, still bedbound, but in much better shape.

I’ve been on oxygen ever since and while physical therapy has helped me get back to being able to sit up, stand, and walk a few steps, there are long-term effects from hypoxia that have made the mental process of composing and writing very difficult.

  1. I am very sorry to hear what happened to you, but am happy to hear that you’re writing again, so… conflicting emotions! WHEEEEEEEE! (Please ask your muse to keep slapping you, your writing is great.) 🙂

  2. I did know bits and pieces of what had happened, but it’s helpful to have it laid out like that. It’s good to hear that you’re seeing recovery, and I hope all works out well for you. (And I’m quite curious about what you’ve produced, I’ve read various Worm fic; reckon I’ll go check that out now.)

  3. I am so glad to hear from you. I have been following your fanfiction writing for literally half a lifetime, and I have been so worried about your health. I’m so glad you’re improving!
Hypoxia is a kind of beast I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and I understand how heavy the ramifications can be. Take care of yourself! I hope you continue to see improvement, and that you’re writing again. May the muse keep on blessing you!

  7. I just opened the Fanfiction.net iPhone app for the first time in a long while, and between the dozens of notifications that popped up about the absurdly prolific ack1308 posting new chapters, I spotted one with your ‘nym! I’m delighted to see you posting again and to hear that your health is improving; I hope that continues steadily. The fact that you’re now writing in another of my top four favorite fandoms for reading fanfic (Harry Potter, Stranger Things, The Chronicles of Prydain, and Worm) is icing on the cake

  8. Hello, my friend. I came across the story about Team 8 quite recently, but I am very glad that it happened. It was very interesting for me to observe the characters and the story in general.I am very sad that the story is not finished, but I have no right to be angry about it, on the contrary, I am very glad that at least it has not been abandoned. I want to thank you for creating it, it really saved me from boredom and gave me the opportunity to fantasize about the further development of the plot or create my own story. I found you and this story thanks to a YouTube video where your text was translated into my native language and voiced by a bot, and the video itself was a cyclical gif. The video lasted about 24 hours, divided into 2 parts of 12. Over the past two days, I have finished watching this video from scratch, despite studying and the need for a full night’s sleep. I want to thank you again. And I can only hope that you will be in good health and good spirits, and that you will have the desire, opportunity, and inspiration to continue this story.

    • Thanks for the review! I didn’t know that there were audiobook translations of Team 8, but I fully support them as long as the authorship is attributed correctly. I hope you did get time to sleep while listening to the story. =)
