AuthorLord Update 2

This is Runsamok, posting an update for Viridian.

In January, the AuthorLord began to write slowly with my help (runsamok). Progress on recovery is slow but steady. Unfortunately the configuration of our house does not allow his wheelchair to be used until he can stand for two minutes to transfer.

So far he can manage one minute of standing and the times are slowly going up. In the meantime he is writing from a laptop in bed which is painful. Thank you for the well wishes and writer’s block is not the issue here. None of the AuthorLord’s stories are abandoned but NOFP and Team 8 are going to be the most frequently updated.

Also a big shout out to the Patreon subscribers that help make the AuthorLord’s original fiction writing possible. I want to assure you that the Patreon postings are not competing with or causing any delay in fan fiction writing.

  1. All kinds of ouch. No worries on speed of updates, health most definitely comes first. Hope things change for the better soon, if only ’cause it’s probably boring as well as painful some days. XD

  2. Prayers for your recovery AuthorLord…As others have stated, it is your health that remains the primary concern, the reading is just for fun. I am happy to hear you have been making progress and hope that you continue to do so!

  3. Health is definitely more important than writing progress. Not that I’m not eagerly awaiting the release of NoFP chapter 43. Thanks for the status update, I was becoming concerned that things had take a turn for the worse. I love your work S’TarKan and I wish you a quick recovery 🙂

  9. I just finished NOFP for probably the fifth time, and as much as I love the fic I have to say that health definitely comes in much higher than fiction! Get well soon, and I hope that you can get back to what you love.

  10. I’m not sure if this is still valid or will be helpful at all but my partner/fiance had open knee surgery and had to stay in bed for an extended period. I bought him this for comfort:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KUQ2OT8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
We added a keyboard and mouse on top of a along piece of wood on his lap so that the laptop screen could be at eye level on the the over bed table and he could still type, web browse and game in comfort.

  11. It’s good to know about the situation, I was starting to worry. DD= (I am kind of a worrywart) Obviously your health is the most important thing, so concentrate on that. ^^

  12. I just wanted to say I recently discovered AuthorLord’s writing and became an instantaneous fan! Upon discovering this page I was both relieved that the stories were not abandoned, and extremely saddened about AuthorLord’s health. I wanted to send my best wishes!

  13. Matthew and Runsamok,

I’ve been reading NOFP and Team 8 since shortly after I first learned about about fanfiction and realized there were others who wanted to take up the reins of the author and ask the daring “what if” questions. That was about ten years ago. I’m 24 now and this story has influenced a lot of my tastes and has given me so much respect for people like you who are able to dedicate the time and energy to offering a fic like this as a gift to the wondering world. I’m glad to hear that you’re continuing writing, but I’m also glad to hear that you’re on the mend. Take all the time you need – we’re in it for the long haul.

Thanks for your work as well as the legacy that you’ve left in inspiring me to tell stories (and I’m sure there are countless others who could say the same thing). Sending thoughts and prayers.

  15. I hope your recovery is going well and I’m glad fanfiction is still important too! Writing can be like reading… impossible to give up but other things do take precidence. Barbara Cartland (yes yes you really don’t want to know why I know this) used to record her stories and a secretary would transcribe them. You might find that easier to do at least to keep track of your story ideas.

  17. Thank you for the good stories!
I’m so sorry to hear about Mathew’s injury. Out of curiosity, would a speech to text converter work for helping get idea down?

  19. Dear Matthew, im new at fanfiction but by chance and sheer luck i found your story “Team 8”. I wait from chapter to chapter with anticipation what will happen. I love this story (of what if). I hope your recovery is going well so can continue the story. But no presure the health is the most important thing. So take care of your self first. Gretings from Poland.

  20. I’ll be honest, i’ve been incredibly worried since NOFP is an amazing fanfic (literally the best fanfic i’ve ever read i’ve spent the past few days reading it and it is amazing) but the last time it was updated was two years ago. I’m deeply sorry to hear that you’ve been injured, but I hope you do well! It’s ok, we’ll all still be waiting when you get back.
(I kinda want to ask what happened though)

  21. I just wanted to wish Mathew the absolute best in his recovery. I suffered a spinal injury about a year ago that has also severely limited the amount of time I can sit and stand. Indeed, I discovered HPNFP during this time and it has been a great distraction from the pain.

At any rate, I have found that voice software (I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking) and “laying down glasses” designed for those who have undergone spinal surgery have helped me immensely in being able to use my laptop in bed without having to sit or otherwise cause myself pain. Both have helped me a lot in terms of being able to write and interact online. If you look for the above term on US Amazon, the third pair listed (called Bed Prism Spectacles) is my favorite as it has the widest lenses and is much easier to see out of than other pairs I’ve tried.

I wish Mathew all the best in his physical therapy and recovery. Thank you to him for his hard work on his fanfiction, and I hope he’ll recover to the greatest extent possible and be able to enjoy writing again soon.

  22. Hi, Im a new reader of your Team 8 story and im glad that you’re recovering from your physical problems. I just read its first chapter and let me say that Im honestly liking this more than canon since it feels less contrived but possibly too complex for the target audience of anime. Hope you have a good day today and tomorrow.

  23. Maybe you could use some happy news to assist the recovery? ‘Holy brown undies, Batman’ – the authorlord made the Time special edition on Harry Potter!

  24. Just wanted you to know that we appreciate all the effort you put into writing. I hope that you gain full recovery soon.

If there’s any possibility to update us on your health status every so often, I’d appreciate it, I visit your blog on a regular basis and find myself disappointed on not having any information regarding your health/recovery status.

Anyways, thanks again and wish you the best.
